Had our first photographer interview...

...i liked them a lot
but, FI said he wasn't impressed

what should we be looking for?

this photographer gives us: e-pics (in studio) and church & reception photography and videography, 1 16x20 and a coffee book w 80 pics or 80 4x5, and 12 8x10 (im opting for the coffee book) THIS IS INCLUDED IN MY RECEPTION HALL PACKAGE

he sells the rights for $175

coverage for "getting ready" (Per Person) is $200 for photo; $200 for video (about 2 additional hours)

and if we chose another location (not in studio) for e-pics it's $150

what do you knotties think?

  • Alot of times, if you don't choose their photographer they will reimburse you a certain amount. If you don't LOVE their work, don't go with them. IMO pictures are one of the most important elements, you want to be able to show your children and grandchildren (I have a picture of my GREATgrandmothers wedding in my bedroom). This board is great because alot of brides are very budget conscious and you can find an amazing photographer for under $2500. But again that is your prerogative. If you really like this photog, keep him. I don't think $175 is bad for the rights.

Honestly, if your FI wasn't impressed, I'd move on.

Your photog is SO important and it's crucial that you both vibe with him/her.

When we were looking the first thing we did was check out their portfolios, websites, and reviews. If we didn't like even one of those things we'd skip them. From there we compiled a list of the photogs we liked and called about pricing. If the package we wanted was out of our budget, we'd cross them off the list.

Then, we made appointments with the ones who had made it that far. By that point we knew that we liked their style, their pricing, etc-- it was now time to see if we meshed with them.

You can usually tell right away if a vendor is right for you. Keep interviewing-- you'll find the perfect photog!!

  • Unless the both of you are not in love with your PHOTOG, go to the next one, there are just so many out there to choose from.

Thankfully, my girl, was very economical and for what I wanted in my pictures, she nailed. There are some photographers out there that even include the disc with high resolution prints (mine did that as well)

Like the others girls said, def look around and go with the one that both of you LOVE!! :)
    Hope this helps

i met w a few photogs and my fi was alllll about one and i was allllll about another one. neither of us hated the others top choice but we just slightly preferred one over the other.
i ended up "winning" but now hindsight my fi tells me allll the time how happy he is we didnt go with his choice.

if one of you is not feeling them at all time to move on. you both need to be happy and comfortable as imho they are the most important vendor.

you need to feel a good vibe with the photog. you spend the most time with them of any vendor, they are with you while getting ready, all up in your business during ceremony, and then they follow you around the reception. you want to like the person. you dont want to be faking a smile or be annoyed of their personality.
  • Speak to Krystal Zaskey. She is amazing and offers amazing deals. If you find her on Facebook, she was offering a great deal last week. We interviewed about 6 but we really hit it off with her and she is very creative and economical.
