As a guest I would say over thirty minutes. I have been to two weddings where the drive was 45 mins no traffic and I was just blah when I got there. Then I had a cocktail or two and I forgot about it.

But all the girls here will say "It's your day, you do what you want." And I agree, just be reasonable and not make it a road trip

I was thinking since most of our guests will be at hotels near reception. To have them park at reception site and be transported to ceremony and then back to reception site. My parents who are paying are adamant I get married in "the church I grew up in." It is about a 30 to 45 min drive depending on traffic.

  • If your parents are paying, you do have to bend to their wishes a little, however, make sure they understand they will need to also factor in the cost for transporting guests from the reception site to the church and back- they may or may not change their minds after considering that added expense. GL!
  • JBSMADA, I had the same dilemma, and finally FI and I decided that we were just going to do everything in one place...and not the "church I grew up in". It sucks, I know...but at the end of the day I realized I'm going to be MARRIED so who cares where it happens?
