Buffet or sit-down?

What are you ladies doing?

I feel like it took forever for everyone to eat at my sister's wedding last year. Each course was so slow b/c of the amount of guests.

I'd like for everyone to just be able to get up and eat! So I guess the best way to do this is buffet, right?

I'm doing sit down because it was cheaper (weird I know) and also because if the service is good, I think it's faster! It all depends on the place I think. Also, I'm having the salads already plated when people arrive, that will make things go a LOT faster.

I wanted a buffet so so bad.  My dad argued with me forever about it.  In the end we did a sit down because our wedding was more on the formal side and my father wanted to be served. (typical) He also told me that because the amount of people we had, there would be tons of people up and walking around, waiting in line for food, etc.  We wanted everyone to be able to sit and relax.  I totally think it's up to you and what you feel comfortable with... i definitely don't think buffet is always going to be the fastest, if that's what you're trying for.

i think we are doing 3 different carving stattions. and i TOTALLY AGREE about the time thing! i recently went to 2 different weddings, one had a traditional buffet, and one had a sit down dinner (with salad, appetizer, entree). My Fi and I kept commenting on how long it took... we were actually nervous that the reception would be pretty much over by the time we were done eating!! Luckily there WAS time to dance, BUT i defintely had way more time to get down and have fun at the buffet. The sit down was elegant, and i appreciated not having to get up (lol, im such a lazy @ss) but the buffet seemed more "efficient". I havent gone to a wedding with stations (like we have chosen) but im assuming its a buffet-esque situation. But im sure as long as the food is delicious people wont care!

... sorry this was so long, i guess i hadnt had time to express myself on this pressing issue, lol

We're doing sit down because I felt like it was just nicer. I wanted to serve the guests and not have everyone up and walking around for their food.

Keep in mind, we're having 60 people (YES! The number is up...don't remind me!) so it will be different than a larger wedding.

    HTH!!

Im debating which one to do too. My place has it the same price. I feel the buffets are nice people get a selection of what they want and so forth. Although I am having my salads as sit down/served and then the food will be buffet. I think im 99% sure I am doing it that way. Ive been to both sit down and buffet and I actually enjoyed the buffet and didnt see tons of people up just walking around the place was very organized when doing it.

i'm having about 75 people and we're doing a pasta buffet. part of that is because the wedding will be in my backyard, and i really don't want to have to hire people to serve food at my house.

We are doing a buffet, my FI really wanted this for some reason. I think he likes the fact that you don't have to coose something before and then if it wasn't what you expected or you don't like the way it looks you are stuck with no other choices.

We are doing a sit down because the buffet was more money (which I found weird). But I kinda like the sit - down, to me it seems more organized.

We are doing sit down not only because it is cheaper, but I don't want people getting up to serve themselves.  The food would be the same regardless so they wouldn't necessarily get more choices with a buffet.  FI thought it was a nicer touch so we went with that.

IM doing sit down..it is cheaper and at my sisters wedding the line was so long for buffet. While theyre serving everyone were going to do our Father/Daughter dance and mother/son so that way we arent wasting time. If the buffet was set up, theyre would be walking around and we wouldnt be able to do it.

I am all about the buffet as long as there are multiple stations or places for people to start to avoid the long lines.  I like that people can have options and that there is movement around the food.  I've been to events before that are sit down and it feels like you are really at the mercy of the serving staff and you have to stay in your seat until the eating is done. I never want the eating to end so buffet is what works.  Also,  my wedding is not that formal and so buffet seems to capture the mood I am going for.

i like the variety of a buffet but i think a sit down is very nice and formal, I still dont know what im doing so it's nice to see what everyone is doing...

I have no idea either.  I want stations but sit down dinners are less expensive.  I am a little worried about the sit down taking to long or even coming out cold.  My wedding is at a Ritz so I hope they know what they are doing but it still worries me.
