Former Pittsburgh Nestie could use help with my brother's wedding

Hi all,

I was hoping someone here might be able to give me help with my brother's wedding. He's getting married in Cleveland next July 4th weekend - it's all going fine. What I ned help with is the week after the wedding. My family is interested in renting some sort of vacation home somewhere close to Cleveland. We all live really far apart so wanted to take advantage of being in the same place. As my brother is delaying his honeymoon, it's likely they'll come along as well.

I'm just looking for ideas of where to go. We don't want to go far away from the Cleveland airport as many people will be flying back from there. Somewhere pretty, not too remote, and not too long in the car (my grandmother doesn't do well in the car for long periods of time). We'll be renting enough cars for everyone. It's likely to be somewhere around 10 people. Double bonus if we can be on the beach!

Thanks!

How long is "not too long"?  There are a lot of places you could look into around Put-In Bay, I know a lot of people from the Cleveland area use that as a mini-vacation destination or have 2nd homes around there.

Slightly closer than PIB, but not by much, you might also look into Vermilion which is on Lake Erie. For a beach type locale, you're looking at around 1 hr drive north of the airport.

    Thanks!
Something within 60-90 minutes of the airport is probably the furthest we'd be looking at - it's likely people will be leaving at different times.
    Thanks!

Another thought... the Lodge at Geneva (by Geneva State Park) is very nice. It's in a very natural setting with lots of outdoor activites nearby (golf, hiking, boating, etc) but also near several wineries east of Cleveland. It's just over an hour to get there from Hopkins airport.

On the East side of Cleveland: The Lodge at Geneva on the Lake is a very nice place, so I also reccomend that. There will be a lot of homes for rent at Geneva on the Lake and Madison on the Lake. If you end up in this area make sure to make a stop at Eddie's Grille on Geneva on the Lake. It's an old school hamburger stop that is a lot of fun.

On the West side of Cleveland: Huron orVermillion will have a lot of vacation homes. Another option is one of the Lake Erie islands such as Kelley's island, but that is a couple of hours from the airport. You can also Sawmill resort in Huron.

    Good luck!

Random rental spot....thunderhill golf course in Madison has a house that sits on a large lake in the middle of the golf course....if I remember correctly it has 5 bedrooms and two pullout couches, could be more though.  Full kitchen, porch and golf carts to get to and from your cars.  Totally cheap too.

This is up by Marblehead - Rock of the Ages rental

Depending on how many families you need, this looks like a great vacation rental!
