Makeup Brand Recommendations Needed

I am looking to buy makeup today for my e-session tomorrow, and I can't remember the name of the makeup that many of you girls recommend.

I've heard raves of how great it works and doesn't cause breakouts...if you have any recommendations, please share! It would be so helpful!

TIA! :)

my photographer, gregory paul, recommends MAC makeup for shoots.  he just reminded me to not wear shiny colors...matte looks much better in photography, and to not overload the bronzer.  Make Up For Ever is really great, too.

I think you're talking about a thread that was up once about Bare Minerals. But most MUA do not recommend it for pics becuase they say it reflects.  I wear Bare Minerals everyday, love it, but will not be wearing it on wedding day (doing airbrushing).  I have heard MAC is great, and I think they will do your makeup for you if you buy 3 items ?

I'm a professional makeup artist.  Go for Makeup Forever HD foundation or Laura Mercier.  I use both of these on many editorials.  You'll get a non-cakey flawless look.  These brands are professional but they're also consumer friendly and easy to use.

MAC  tends to photograph orange on your skin tone.

I just read up on Makeup Forever and will be buying it today!!! Thanks Mitsy!!!

Natalie, you can try mine (I know it will be WAY too light for you... but you can try mine at my wedding, maybe on your wrist or somewhere inconspicuous and see how it feels/lasts etc, plus you will see first hand how it works on me!

You're very welcome!  When it comes to MAC the do have some great things foundation just isn't one of them.  Their lip and eye colors are stellar.

If you want a flawless finish that will last all day go for:

    Makeup Forever HD Foundation
    Makeup Forever HD powder
Laura Mercier Oil-free Foundation Primer or Makeup Forever All Mat primer (if you're oily)
Laura Mercier Eye Basics shadow primer

Apply the foundation with a wet sponge and pat it on into your skin.  This method gives an airbrushed look.

The shadow primer will keep your shadow from budging or fading throughout the day.

After applying your lipstick put a thin tissue over your lips and dust your lips with a bit of the HD powder.  It'll keep your lipstick from smudging all day.  This is extremely useful with red shades and darker hues.

Try to stay away from anything shimmery.  When they aren't used properly shimmer can make it look like you have wrinkles that you don't.  They also reflect a lot of light and can make you look greasy on camera.
