Help!!!!

So I booked Saphire Ballrooms in Hialeah like October 2009 for my September 2010 weddng. So they have a $2500 deposit and we changed our date to February 2011. My coordinator said she would call them to see what we could eliminate from the package  because I wanted to upgrade the flowers because they only have roses,orchids,and ivys which sucks!!! So she suggested that we contract a florist along with a decorator because I wanted chivari chairs.I called my coordinator today and she lets me know she spoke with the banquet hall and they told her that they cancelled my contract because I changed my date.WTH? I'm pissed because I have spoken with the hall severeal times after changing my date and they never advised me of this.I was under the impression that I just owed the balance and would be making the payments as scheduled.So now I'll probably be out of  $2500 and have to start the search all over again and my wedding is in less than 5 months. Oh man, I am so sorry to hear this!! I hope you get all your money back and find a better location.. Right now if I were you, I would be raising HELL in that place. Check your contract, I do not think they are able to cancel the event without first informing the correct parties. Once again, I am terribly sorry that you are going through this

I had made a $500 deposit at Saphire as well and when I wanted to cancel it (I realized a banquet hall wedding wasn't what I wanted), they refused to return my deposit, even though they had promised to return it if my FI didn't like the venue (I booked it without him seeing it first), even though no where on the contract does it say the deposit is non-refundable, and even though I had given my deposit only a few weeks earlier, with plenty of time to spare for them to book that date with another bride.  I was very disappointed but happy I didn't give all my business to greedy jerks like that.

By the way, the lady advised me when I called to cancel the contract that the deposit money WAS transferable for a later date. So they're totally bullsh*tting you.  Feel free to tell them Janet said so.

Thanks Ladies! I am now looking at other venues hoping that my date will be available and I can find something that I want within the time that I have and not have to rush into anyhting.Hopefully I can get my money back. What a waste! I've had several events and used them so I thought they would be okay but I guess not.

I lost $500 dollar deposit at a banquet hall too same thing as janet cause i chaned my mind and they were very fishy asking for more money right away after they had said it wasnt required...anyhow..but $2500 would be horrible... I know that when I called to cancell the banquet hall i was using told me it was transferable...and i know ppl who have had others and its been the same...i would raise hell girl...get your money back or have them change the date...the only reason they wouldnt be able to is if someone already took that date then you might have to find a day that is available in the month... GL!

Thanks for your supports ladies! I actually have been trying to conatact them since my coordinator advised me of the situation and no answer.
