thank you note etiquette

Ok, so we've started receiving a few early wedding presents in the mail, sent to my parents' house. I have already had my shower and these are definitely wedding gifts, even though our wedding isn't until July. My question is about thank you notes for early wedding gifts.

I know we are supposed to open the gifts when they arrive and send a thank you note immediately. However, we don't have our "wedding" thank you notes yet (they are ordered along with our invitations) and it doesn't seem proper to send a thank you note with our married names on the stationary prior to the wedding and me taking his name.

The thank you notes I used for my shower said "Thank You From the Future Mrs. B****" on the front. Those don't seem proper either since the wedding thank you should be from both me and FI, and not me specifically.

What kind of thank you card should I be using for early wedding gifts???

buy regular thank you notes & thank them.

We got a few early gifts as well and just used the thank you notes that fiance and I had laying around. He had a box left over from interviews that he did last year so they are slightly on the formal side, but are in no way wedding-y.  I think you should just use generic ones from the store like LM said and like we did.  Definitely not the shower ones since, like you said, this thank you should come from both yourself AND your FI.

I think you're over thinking this.  Just find a nice note and send it along.

agree w/PPs.  the same thing happened to us, we just used generic thank you's.

Do you live at your parents'? I've heard of relatives asking the parents of the bride to hold onto the presents until the wedding, so maybe the people don't intend for you to get them before the wedding? That would solve the thank you card issue, but maybe that's not the case for you.

Just send out a regular thank you unless the poster above is correct and they are sending them to your parents bc rather than you, to be held onto until the wedding?
