I didn't think it was true...

Until my invites went out and people started to invite themselves and add random
+1's to their invites. Seriously! Who does that!?

Hell NO! That's unacceptable! I hate when people do that. Unless they are sending you a check for that additional person, they should not be adding.

My RSVPs are not giving them a chance to add anyone. It will say... "we have 2 seats reserved in your honor... accept or decline."   That's it! No write ins!

A wedding is not an election, you can write in who ever you want! lol

What are you gonna do?? Let them bring the +1 or tell them they can't?

I actually wouldn't be surprised if some people added the +1 on the RSVP card even if it says how many seats are saved for them.

In which case I will proceed to reach for my matches and set them on fire.

Am I turning into a pyro? Maybe.

Trust me people come out of the woodwork asking to bring extra people.  Eventhough I wrote the number of people who were invited on the RSVP card, I still got phone calls asking if they could bring an extra person.  I said No to everyone and they were ok with it.

One person however called me and I said No, then called my mom to ask her also, she said NO, and then they called AGAIN a month before the wedding and got the same answer.  Guess what? they basically wiped their ass with what we said and brought the extra person to the wedding anyway.  Lets just say it got UGLY and my mom and I are still not speaking to this particular family member.

some people are just clueless when it comes to basic manners.

I haven't had any problems with +1 yet....just some family members being wise-asses and writing in LOBSTER or FILET MIGNON when they only have a choice of chicken or fish!  haha.

im glad im not the only one who is writing the number of reserved seats..this is customary in my country but my FMIL thought it was not appropriate..BUT because i read this chat room every day I know it happens so I printed them and I am sending them and I am 100% sure I still will get calls from people asking bc I already have that problem with 2 people and the invites are not even out yet..also (listen to this) I have a non immediate family member that invited herself to the RD!! people have no class...they dont realize that each guest is about 140+ in the best case scenario!!! agggghhhh

I am dreading something like that. If I know my family there will be major issues. We didn't send our invites out yet and my mother wants me to send my 85 year old grandmother as +1! I nearly freaked out.

To shoegirl: our rule is married, engaged or living 2gether..and even like that I have 3 people that just happen to start dating somebody within the last months and they are ASSUMING their flavor of the month is invited..well, they are going to be shocked with a big, fat "We have reserved ONE seat for you" and you know what at the end I decided, they have 2 options: coming alone or not coming at all, just let me know...I have a list of people that are waiting for that seat!
