Good News and Bad News all in one day ....

... so the good news .... bc its easier to concenrate on the good news .... 1 month from today were getting married!!!! ... we had food tasting final dj appointment finalized the rehearsal dinner and got majority of our rsvps back (deadline is sunday and i know i have to update my ticker!) ... i have my dress fitting tomorrow with one of my bridesmaids as well ... fiances suit fits perfectly ... everything is completely coming together ....

now the bad news ... i was laid off last night from a company that i have worked with for 12 years ... was completely in shock and completely upset about it ... but im trying to look on the bright side of things and keep my head up .... the only thing im worried about is keeping a roof over our heads as well as paying off the wedding ....

fiance has been amazing these past 24 hours .... he said who cares what happens ... in 1 month we will be married and starting our lives together ... no matter what happens ... we will get thru it together as one and we will come out winners no matter what ...

sorry for the good yet depressing post .... had to vent a little

  • That stinks... Take some time for yourself, prepare for your wedding, and grieve the loss of your job. People don't usually expect the emotions that come with being laid off, but losing a job is one of the most difficult things a person can go through. In 12 years, you've established a routine and made friends, and it all may be hard to process for a while. If that is the case, know that your feelings are normal, and you will feel better, it may just take some time.

I'm a career counselor, feel free to send me your resume... phisigfly at aol.com, but I think putting your job search on hold until after the wedding is probably a good idea if you can afford to. Just start updating your resume, updating your LinkedIn page, and letting people that you know know to be on the lookout. And, of course, file for unemployment.

  • Ya I agree with PP. If at all possible to put your job search on hold, I would do that. Being laid off after working with them for 12 years I can only imagine how you feel, and for it to be put on you at a time when you have so much going on is even harder. Take this time to focus on your wedding day that is rapidly approaching. This month is going to be one of the fastest months of your life, don't add any stress that isn't absolutely necessary. Good luck, I'm sure everything is going to work out just fine.

  • Everything happens for a reason (IMO). You are so lucky to have found the man of your dreams and to be beginning your lives together! Relish this time and enjoy the moment. Everything will work out. I'm sorry that happened to you and I can totally understand your anxiety but this is a time for joy. Don't let this ruin the month for you!!
