Teeth Whitening

I really want to have my teeth whitened before the wedding.  I was going to use my regular dentist but honestly I dont really like him and need to find another dentist.  Also his equipment is all old and I'm afraid his whitening system might be out of date.  FI had his done at his regular dentists office last month before his bachelor party.  I couldnt bring myself to tell him even when he was complaining about it that his teeth only got a shade or two lighter and were never really white.  Now he swears they are more yellow then before!  How come I have friends who had their teeth whitened and they came out shining white like brand new?!?!

Are you whitening your teeth?
If so where?
price range?
Have you done whitening before?
I could use your knottie expertise!!!! TIA

I use the Crest Whitening stirps kit a few times a year and it really keeps my teeth white.  However, I've never done the professional system at a dentist's office.  I remember a few months ago Jaime (Foxtrot) posted a video from you tube on how to whiten your teeth at home.

Its this special paste that you can get at CVS and you use it with a silicone ( I think) mouthgaurd, the type that athletes wear.  I remember her telling us that it was working.  I'll try to look for the video online. if not page her...

OMG, im so watching this! I was planning on going to my dentist before my epic to whiten my teeth more, but its like $500!!!!!!!!  I have a friend that uses the premium Crest whitening strips and her teeth are super white, but she says that it is a painful process because your teeth get very week.

Im going to see if i find out the company in sawgrass and see if they have a more local one for me in Miami. Thanks Evelyn! =)

Do NOT us Caca Strips. They turned my teeth brown.

Okay, in all seriousness, a friend of mine used Crest and if you stick to it, it works!

I only have a few weeks so I dont think I have time for strips or mouth guard creams..... I just want to go somewhere and come out one hour later with sparkly white teeth!!!!

I also use the white strips every so often. My teeth never get as white as they should be because I LOVE coffee and that is a major teeth stainer (if that's even a word LOL). I think that they do work great though because I could see a difference. I probably would have seen a bigger difference if I would have stuck to it but honestly I am horrible with routines!

Last week I went to Target for a whitening kit and tried the trays by a brand called Dentek. It was on sale for 16.99. I actually have been using it as indicated and I see a difference and so does FI (we use them every night before bed). The trays are less expensive than the strips. The strips I think did a better job of whitening but again I am sure it varies by person. If you are looking for an inexpensive fix I say go for the strips. If you get any good recs for a professional who can do it or a better whitening kit PLEASE let me know!

I also know that my MOH uses Go Smile. I believe its a Swedish product that you order online and its like $80. Her teeth are always super white and I know she doesn't go to a pro for that!

Also, I suggest that you use a whitening tooth paste and try and cut down on red wine, coffee (I am down to only one cup a day), and soda. All are the biggest causes for stains.

    HTH!

As a pro whitener... and someone in the dental field.... I say whitening trays from your dentist are the way to go.

Yes, they are expensive anywhere from 200-400.. and refill are like 40-60. BUT they WORK great! My teeth were an A2 on the whitening color scale. I haven't whitend in 2 years due to ortho work changed my teeth and my trays no longer fit, but I got new ones made today.... so I am going to start again asap.
    Price - D
    Ease of Use - A
Comfort - B-C (depends on your sensitivity level and how you whiten)
    Results - A+
Longevity - A (you can maintain a white smile this way easily)

ZOOM - Does wonders, but is uncomfortable. You have to sit with blue goo on your gums (so the light doens't fry them) for up to an hour with your cheeks retracted (which is uncomfortable) and you can't drink coffee, tea, wine or soda for a few days to a week.
    Price - C
Ease of Use - B (You don't do anythig but sit there in the dark for an hour)
    Comfort - D
    Results - B-
    Longevity - C

STRIPS - Enh... definitley a more cost effective method but much less effective.
Price - A-B (depending on brand)
    Ease of Use - A
Comfort - A-B (depends on your sensitivity level and how you whiten)

    Longevity - IDK

And that's my report ladies! If you have more questions I can try to help out tomorrow.

My dentist charges like $500 and its a in office visit and they do the bleaching there and then send you home with trays for 7 days. I have not used them but my FI got his for $300 including whitening stuff and mouth trays and I order mouth trays and we both are using his whitening stuff and it really works. I recommend it and if you dont do it through the dentist do the aquafresh trays you can get at the store those ones work great too.
