Inexpensive/On-A-Budget Venue

Hello Everyone!

This is my first time posting at the Knot and I truly need all the help I can get. I have looked around over 15 venues in Miami, where the wedding will take place, but everything is over our budget. I don't want to resort to a banquet hall style of wedding - so I am trying to stay away from that option. I fell IN LOVE with Cocoplum Women's Club, but it is too pricey for us. Also, the guest list is 160 ppl.

Are there any venues that you can recommend. I am into the historical venues - CocoPlum, Cocnut Grove Women's club (it is just too small), Douglas entrance...and we are trying to stay indoors, being that the wedding is on May 25th.

Also, if you know any great caterers that are inexpensive BUT GOOD, please let me know.

PLEASE HELP!

• Have you tried the Spanish Monastery in North Miami? http://www.spanishmonastery.com/weddings.html
• Have you tried the Bank of America building in Downtown Miami - Skyy lounge.
What about the Courtyard Coral Gables they have banquet space - not sure if they will fit up to 160ppl it's worth a try.

Rusty Pelician might be an alternate option. I've heard they work with peoples budget

• Rusy is about $150 pp. That was the first place we visited. They remodeled the entire place so prices went up. I can't do Spanish Monestary because its in the middle of summer and its going to be HOT! So something indoors is what I am looking for, but without the "banquet room" feel.
• Hi there....
The CocoPlum is beautiful! Fell in love with it too but the budget was not there. We ended up going with the Addison (in Boca Raton) because their prices were a bit more flexible, especially since you're doing it over the summer, you might want to inquire there. I was trying to avoid the banquet hall feel as well.

Also, I'm not sure where the ceremony is taking place, but the Signature Grand in Davie is very nice when it comes to reception space. Specially for so many guests, I'm sure it'll be in your budget, and the room for 100+ guests has the most beautiful chandeliers, I really liked it. I did not like the space for the ceremony at all, so if you're not getting married in a church, forget it. But, if you're looking for reception only, you might want to check it out. I would say it is a banquet hall, but the place itself just looks like a gigantic mansion and the architecture is really nice.

HTH!
• We are trying to stay around south miami area, because the ceremony is in St. Kevins on Bird Rd.

I looked into the Addison, super nice!! but too far for everyone. Same goes for Signature Grand.
• ah! I see......
I've heard the Fire Tower is nice.......I only looked at the CocoPlum in Dade, sorry!
• Try the Fire Tower, you will have more than enough room for your guests. I'm not sure about their catering or what are your options but it is not a pricey venue.

Also, have you considered venues where you can bring in your own vendors? If you have then I recommend for you to check out the Ronald W. Shane Center in Miami Beach and Palmetto Bay Village Center. Both locations accomodate large events and you use the space to your liking. Both have indoor spaces and and an outside space which you can use for the cocktail hour. I visited both venues and I didn't get the banquet hall feeling (was trying to avoid booking a banquet hall).
• Have you tried Comber hall in coral gabels? It's a beautiful venue and the prices may work for you. I don't know your budget, but when I was looking comber hall came in well below the Addison.

I'm with quiggels...Comber Hall is historic and a beautiful setting. In their packages, the tip is included and tax is 7%! HTH!
• I loved Comber Hall. I def have to look more into that. I also loved Bank of America Tower in miami, soooo nice. I also live in Gainesville, going to Grad School at UF, and I am not in Miami so it is very hard to see these venues since I am not there.

Have you all heard of La Jolla Ballroom?

Signature Grand has a sister-site in Miami called Signature Gardens ... never been there, but Im guessing that since it is associated with the Grand, it might be the same.

Unfortunately Signature Gardens was closed down about a year or more ago - it was absolutely beautiful!! You should look into Grand Salon Ballroom at Killian Palms Country Club. Its where Im getting married - Its beautiful, great location, and very affordable! http://grandsalonreceptionhall.com/

I've heard of La Jolla, its supposed to be beautiful, and reasonably priced. Sorry to tell you that I've never actually been there myself. The pics online make it look awesome though!
• Hi, I'm new to these boards, so bare with me. I actually was wondering if you know anything about Comber hall and if there is room to negotiate? -Jessica

No room to negotiate (at least from our experience).

I am also getting married in Florida and began looking at the addison. It looked lovely, could you possibly tell me around what prices packages started? I am waiting for a reply form them and when is your big day?

• Mayfair Hotel is comparable to signature grand I think
• Hi millance

Welcome to the board. I'm also getting married at St. Kevin!!! My wedding is in June. We are having a sit down dinner in Coconut Grove at Chart House. Their prices are very reasonable. We aren't doing the whole dancing and partying thing but its a beautiful place. I know you can have dancing and music outside but I know that you want something indoor because of the weather but you should check it out. Their food is delish!

• Yes I am very excited but when it comes to the venue I still can't find something reasonable. I want to stay away from Banquet Halls and it is so hard. I have looked at many placed but because I am in Gainesville and not in Miami it is hard.
