Steel Drum

So I heard a steel drum the other day and I loved it. I suggested it to my FI and he said he doesnt know if it will "go" with our wedding. We are having everything at the Botanical gardens. I thought it would be cool to have for the cocktail hour. Anyone think it would be weird? I also want to be serving caprihinas also during the cocktail hour.

As long as your cocktail hour isn't ultra-formal, I think you can get away with it... especially if it is outside in S. FL.

I am going to look into getting one for my cocktail hour (it will be at a tiki hut) and maybe the ceremony.  I heard that they have a type of steel drum with a lighter sound and can play all of the traditional music on it... but I need to do more research.

I definitely want a steel drum player at my cocktail hour!!  I have ALWAYS loved the steel drums and anything tropical... we are having a beach themed wedding outside on the intercoastal so i think it will go really well... if you find out any  more info, let me know!!  TIA!

you could totally do a steel drum player! first, I loveee caipirinhas and steel drum music would go perfectly with that.  Up in New York, people do steel drum music all of the time, so even if it's just because your wedding is in florida, it'll match with whatever you do :)
i'd do one but FI's brother had one at his wedding (stolen from our original idea) and his wife would flip if we did too... ughhhh FI's family has sooo much stupid drama

I am not sure if it will go with my garden :/ I love the sound but the more I listen to them I think maybe a guitar player would be better.. But I have been looking at  Master Musicians, I saw them at the Doral Bridal expo and they look great. They have everything. http://mastermusiciansinc.com/index.htm

i reserved a steel drum and I am so excited about it. I really wanted the cocktail hour to give people a tropical feel, but then we have a formal dinner. Best of both worlds!!
