Trolleys from Unique Transportation
I absolutely loved the idea of the trolley for ceremony transportation, but this was the hardest vendor to deal with. Took weeks for response from emails or voicemails and then we practically had to beg for 2 trolleys. Day of the drivers looked like they were going to the mall, had no idea where we were going and played loud rap music. (luckily- our guests were ready to party- luckily.) OH- and one of the trolleys BROKE down meaning we had to transport 140 ppl in 1 trolley that holds 30 ppl. (We literally fit about 60 people/trolley). The one positivie thing had nothing to do with the company itself: b/c the trolley broke down we were behind schedule. However, it was raining... so being behind schedule allowed us to miss the rain. So there's the silver lining I suppose. I was told "Molly's Trolley's" doesn't come down to Ft. Lauderdale, but in Ft. Lauderdale the other day I saw one with a wedding... so look into them first.
Florist- JMorgan Flowers A+: I worked directly with Jacquie for the year and she is the spunkiest, most outgoing person I have ever met. She saw my vision right of the bat, and made it come to life on our wedding day. My bouquet was gorgeous, the bridesmaids got tons of complements on theirs, and our table arrangements and AMAZING altar pieces were literally TO DIE FOR. She is only missing another "+" b/c they brought our bouquets at 10 am and we didn't need them until 2 and I was nervous LOL.
Photographer- Stacey Poirier A++: Stacey served as both my photographer and my psychiatrist that day LOL. It was raining and sunny off and on all day, and she read my emotions and kept me distracted with bridal portraits and such. She also took myself and the BM's for some beautiful shots in the hotel lobby when it was thundering out and I felt like I might pass out from stress haha. She was organized and on time, AND did great with our families by already having a list of shots ready to do at the ceremony site just by using the information sheet I had given her about our guests. Brandon, her husband was also there with the guys and FI said he too, did an incredible job. They stuck with us from about 1 to 11:30pm and they took pics the entire time. Also- they did an incredible job with our epics (absolutelty beautiful).DJ or Band- Eddie B DJ, DJ Roberto: A+: I would absolutely 100% recommend DJ Rob to anyone who using Eddie B DJ's. When you call Eddie B you may be slightly turned off, b/c Eddie himself comes off as a giant jerk. However, when we met with our specific DJ (Rob), we were greeted warmly. He was confident, and made us feel comfortable in his abilities to keep the crowd going AND totally followed my Play and Do Not Play lists to a tee! During the reception he kept the crowd going the whole night, and everyone felt the South Florida party vibe by the end of the evening. Not to mention he gave us his personal cell # to contact him at anytime w/ song ideas... just amazing.Officiant- Rev. Paul Goldman (Rev Arlene's husband from her company "I do forever")- A+: Rev Arlene worked with Rev Paul to create the most beautiful, personal ceremony ever. They gave us questionaires and called us asking for details about our relationship and experiences together and created a story about our life that was romantic and creative (along with humorous!). All of our guests loved him. He also worked with us since we did not have electricity for his mic and that was one of their requests upon booking. He just spoke loudly and smoothly, and all 150 guests could hear him perfectly. Wedding Planner- Danielle Pearson Events A: I would have given Danielle Pearson an A+ had she just been a Day of Coordinator, but she was actual my Partial Planner. Now don't get me wrong, she was amazing as Day of. She pulled together a lot of things during the day that were not going according to plan and managed to handle all of them w/o me ever knowing. It was a smooth and perfectly executed day. I am a very organized person, and planned everything up to the day of pretty much myself (which is my own fault b/c I could have asked her for more help). The great thing about Danielle though, is that she met with me several times for more than 2 hours and we went over details, what things I needed to finish and as the day came closer she made the final timeline (which was a lifesaver). As far as partial planner though she really only helped me lock down transportation and a few other small details... but like I mentioned this could be b/c I'm currently unemployed and had a lot of time to do things myself. LOL. I do absolutely love her though and would recommend her to any bride who loves the planning, but needs someone to smooth out rough edges and be there for you 100% day of.
Wedding Cake- Publix A+: I worked with Sue at the Publix on Sunrise and she did an amazing job. She made up a frosting color exactly like I wanted, allowed me to bring in my own white chocolate shells and the end product was a beautiful delicious cake. She also helped me decide on size (we did a 3 tier for 100 + a sheet cake in the back and saved so much $$$!). Their cakes are delicious, professional looking and beautiful, and so damn affordable! Groom's Cake- Susie's Scrumptious Cakes A+: Susie's has free cake tasting on Saturdays and it is mind blowingly delicious (and you take home anything you don't eat!). They created a cake in the shape of a Notre Dame beer bucket with coronas sticking out (ice and all). Fi LOVED IT. and the flavor was "Key Lime, with Rasberry filling". It was so delicious that when we woke up in our wedding suite, we ate leftovers for breakfast LOL. (Also affordable as a smaller grooms cake ~25 ppl or so) Larger cakes can be a bit pricey, but they do great work and much cheaper than We Take the Cake (<-- outrageous prices!! YIKES!)
Linens- Wedding Linens Direct (online)- A: OK so, WLD is an awesome company. I bought satin napkins (10 for $7) and crinkle taffeta overlays for ($9). The only problem is that once you get them you are responsible for ironing or steaming as necessary. The napkins are so easy, you just iron them into the pocket fold shape you'd like to use (great for a BM or MOB job if they are asking to help LOL). The crinkle taffeta can just be slightly steamed to get creases out. If you don't have pets I suggest opening up the packages, folding them in 1/2 and draping them over your couch for the last week, the weight of the cloths should help reduce the fold lines. Other than that they were beautiful, vibrant colors and I saved over $500 dollars by purchasing rather than renting.
Chairs- Best Rental C+: The chairs were beautiful, set up well and the prices were great (about $1.50/ea for natural wood folding chairs... gorgeous w/ a bamboo runner). The only problem was that they needed to be set up by 3:00 and they called me at 2:15 b/c for some god forsaken reason they had drove to my house (the billing address) instead of the park. I nearly had a heart attack. If they had just driven to the park, they would have gotten an A+. If you have your planner call the morning of and confirm the delivery location, then you should be fine.
Invitations- "Brides" collection for Michaels (print your own) A: Saved so much money for these beautiful invitation. i created the template myself by downloading fonts from dafont.com and then playing around with word art on microsoft word. Then, to save time, I had Dee from DeeMBee print them (I emailed her the templates) and put them togethter. She came up with such a reasonable price, that even having them printed by a pro I saved a ton of $$$.
Printing- DeeMBee Designs A: she did a wonderful job and printed them very nicely no issues. she also created & printed cigar labels for me. My only complaint (which isn't that big of a deal) was that she didn't get the invites to me exactly when I wanted, it was about a week later. However I wanted them so early, and it was right around Thanksgiving that it was a not a big deal. She is super sweet and also creates/designs invite suites herself and does a beautiful job.
Wedding Dress- Maggie Sottero, from "Caryn's Bridal" in Va A+: The dress was gorgeous, well made, durable and a beautiful fabric in a jaw dropping shade of diamond white. I loved it.
Alterations- Reina A+++: freaking amazing, reasonable prices, and customer service that blows away anyone. Please, please, please go here you will not regret it. Many brides have gone elsewhere and ended up going to her to fix mistakes. She is truly talented and trustworthy.
BM Dresses-Davids Bridal A+: Minus the fact there was just a little confusion b/c there was another bride with my exact name getting married my exact day in Maine, with dresses also at David's Bridal, everything else was perfect. The girls loved their dresses, and they all came in so quick, with plenty of time for alterations as needed. No complaints.
Tux's- Men's Wearhouse A+: no complaints. Clean, pressed chocolate brown tuxes. All the pieces were neat and ready. Only 2 groomsmen had jackets that were a little too small, but b/c they listened and went 2 days before the wedding, both mistakes were fixed in plenty of time.
Make Up Artist/Hair Stylist- Amanda Lynn A++: beautiful airbrushing and my eyelashes looked wonderful. She charges by the hour rather than the service, so when she had finished 8 hairs with 2 hours to spare, she offered to do all BM's makeup as well. The girls looks so beautiful. My sister did my hair, which was a complicated side bun/updo that looked amazing. Too bad she lives in Va or I'd recommened her to all of you!
Rings- Forever Metal (Fi's tungsten celtic band) A++: I ordered 2 day shipping and it came in the morning. It fits perfectly and looked just like the pic online, he absolutely loves it. My ering was my great great grandmothers, but my wedding band was: a small family owned jewelry store in Boca Elegance Fine Jewelry (A+) that we trusted b/c they resized my ering.
Honeymoon- Sandals La Toc in St. Lucia A+++++++++++: This resort was drop dead gorgeous. The food was delicious, we were treated like a million bucks everywhere we went (and we only stayed in a midlevel $ room).... the servers remember you, bartenders treat you like gold, and room service was amazing. I'd recommend Sandals to anyone, b/c the all inclusive, 5 star treatment they give you is amazing!!
Videographer-LoveBug Productions A+: Great couple, took so many beautiful and creative videos. Not invasive at all, I forgot they were there most of the time. I will update when we get our videos in a few weeks, but I think they are going to do a wonderful job.
Favors-Donation to the American Cancer Society A+ (and gave purple ACS wristbands to all guests- tucked into pocketfolds): this was such a hit, our guests were blown away. A few ppl actually cried b/c they were so happy we did this. It made us feel so good about our decision to forgo the trinket and go with the donation. Hotel- Gallery One Doubletree B: The rooms and hotel itself are so beautiful that I wanted to give them an A... but we had quite a few issues with them. First of all, a few guests kept booking and getting the incorrect price from our contract. Then, for some reason they wanted to charge us $2.50/room for welcome bags, but the front desk told us, upon arrival, they'd just hand them out for free. When guests checked in they weren't getting bags, and we found out the sales/wedding block office had told the front desk they couldn't do that.... There was a lot of inter-office confusion. Fortunately there was an incredible manager on duty named Christopher, who worked with my parents and many of my guests to smooth out issues. Had he not been there to personally handle each problem, this hotel would have gotten an F. Oh- and room service never came to clean the bridal suite, so my BM's, who went to the room Fi & I were supposed to go in (and saw how messy it was) went and had to pitch a fit with the front desk to have it cleaned at midnight while we were hanging out with guests in another room. However, the fact they cleaned it at midnight and delivered chocolate covered strawberries and champagne as an apology did help.
