Miami Venue Help - Spanish Monastery???

Hi Everyone Out there  -

I am starting to plan our destination wedding in Miami and I am really interested in the Spanish Monastery or something like it. Anyone have any experience with this venue? I am really concerned about where a band would go, how far away it is from hotels on the beach..etc. Are there any other garden/old world venues I am missing out there?

Help please!

Anne

I was married there over 20 years ago and boy has it changed.  Beautiful building perfect for a ceremony with no more than 125 people.  The chapel is small, we had 120 or so and it seemed very full.  We didn't do our reception there because alcohol was not permitted bk then, but I think they allow it now.  I can not picture how a reception with any spunk could play out there as the quarters are very tight.  If you are having less than 100 people it might be doable.   It is about 15 minutes from the beaches off 163rd st and Collins Ave.   Viscaya in Miami is beautiful and there are many old churches in Coral Gables with the same feel.  Good luck and happy planning!
