Save the dates.

So, we are hopefully going to be putting our signatures on the dotted line for our venue this week, so I've started looking at Save the Dates.  Originally, I wasn't going to send STD's, but since we are getting hitched on Labor Day weekend, thought it best if we did.

So here's my delimna.  I'm a very indecisive person.  I love planning parties, but not my own, and totally stressing EVERYTHING wedding related.  I can't find a STD I like.  I don't want one with our photo.  I want something that says Party, but is classy.

A bit about my vision for my big day.  Ceremony on the beach, reception in the hotel ballroom.  Sticking with neutral tones (cremes, beige) for the linens and chiviarri chairs.  My BM will be in a cobolt blue dress with colorful floral boquets, guys in beige slacks with either a blue or white top.  My centerpieces are calla lilies in a 20 inch white vase with rhinestones around the top.  Although we are having a beach ceremony, I will not be doing a beach theme.

My trouble is sending the right message with my STD's and then my invites.  Light, fun, but still classy.  My vibe is just celebrating the day with our friends and family, in a gorgeous ballroom.  Gah!

So, anybody have any thoughts, suggestions?  I'm pretty artsy, but I don't want to get into the sinking ship of all my DIY.

Re: Save the dates.

  • There are tons of options for no picture save the dates and they look classy and fun. FI and I did our own invites and it is very time consuming and requires patience (trial and error). Luckily, we had the help of FI's best man help us format our template for our invites, rsvp cards, and info cards. He even did our own monogram. All I did was to show him my inspiration and he did a great job. He saved us a lot of grief and money. I could forward you his info if you are interested.

  • thank you.  do they need to represent the color scheme? or is it ok to venture away from my colors?

  • No they don't have to match your color scheme but is there a reason why you wouldn't want them to?

We did a STD similar to this one with our picture and calander. My friend made it on photoshop and we printed thru Vista Print with a coupon we got 50 for less than $20.

There so many options and the ones posted above are great. Just a heads up, if you are as indecisive as you say you are then start working on your invitations asap. I made so many changes on mine it took over 4 months to get my final proof. My invite designer has the patience of a saint. Wink

  • Amy- Thanks.  Yes, as soon as I pin down a STD, I will most definately work on my invites.  I've managed to be pretty decisive with everything else, but for some reason, the paper items are causing me stress!

    Ahhhh!

  • I blame it on Pinterest. Everytime I would make a decision I would find something else and change it. Ahh! But finally they are done and it's another thing I can cross off the list!
