Hi Ladies, I was just wondering who else will be attending this show on Thursday. I'm going because I'm curious about this show that is sponsored by radio stations.

  • I was debating going.  My wedding venue is the Harriet Himmel so I thought it could be interesting as they will be doing some catering for the show
  • I didnt hear about that till I saw the link... sounds like fun.

  • I figured if some radio stations are sponsering it then it should be good. I am dragging a friend.

how much do they charge to have a wedding there?

me and my FI are on different levels you can say. he wants a wedding down by the beach in a hotel, we checked out one hotel Ocean sky, its really beauitful, but to have a wedding there is like 20,000 dollars, and if we take away the bar option its 11,000 dollars and thats not including dj, flowers and photographer. I told him about this company  called a seaside wedding which coordinate beach weddings for reasonable prices and he doesn't like it, because he doesn't want to get married on the sand, and he doesn't want our guest to drive to the rececption site. and I'm planning too early to.I know we plan for april 2014 and I know its the getting towards the end of Jan, maybe I should just stop planning because I"m getting discouraged that we are not going to like the same thing. I told him if he really wants a hotel beach wedding we can do it, we just have to put the wedding off for a another year and save an additional 10K, he didn't say anything about that and said he could save 3000 by december, well I can't start planning a wedding in december for april 2014 thats too soon and prices will go up for short notice ...sorry I'm just venting.

has this happen to any of you, I don't want to start a fight with my FI because we are not a fighting couple and i'm trying to get him to realize that a hotel wedding is pricey for us if we plan for a 2014 wedding. i don't know what to do

The rental fees for the Harriet Himmel Theater are $2000 for a Friday wedding and $3800 for a Saturday wedding. They have in house catering what runs anywhere from $97 to $114 per person and includes alcohol. This venue is not on the beach though.

I attended the Bridal Elegance Bridal show and I won 2 of the 3 prizes in the cake dive contest. One of the prizes is a free rental of the Harriet Himmel Theater. It's worth $3800 and I'm looking to sell it for a discount if you are interested. I also won a bridal gown in a size 12 if you're looking for one too.

As for your dilemma with your fiance. I would say the first step is for the both of you to sit down and decide on a budget. The next thing I would do is discuss the elements of your wedding that are most important to you. It sounds like your fiance is looking for a water view. That doesn't mean you have to have your wedding at a pricey hotel. There are other options. For you, an important element may be your dress and flowers may not be as big of a deal.

The next thing I would do is figure out a preliminary guest list. This will give you an idea of how much you can afford per person.

Start allocating your budget to the important elements of your wedding. You can find online wedding budget spread sheets which are veryl helpful. Figure out how much you can afford per person for the reception after you have allocated money toward your vendors.

You can cut corners by doing invitations yourself, getting married in the same place as your reception so that ceremony flowers can be reused at the reception. You can also offer beer and wine instead of liquor.

Try not to stress and enjoy the planning. You will find the right venue for you and your fiance. Don't get discouraged. Good luck!
