Venues good for food station/cocktail-style reception?

Hi everyone,

My fiance and I recently went to a wedding where instead of a "buffet line" or plated dinner, there were food stations serving continuously throughout the night.  We really liked that it encouraged mingling and a more social atmosphere, and there was never the long wait for food or getting hungry later.  Are there any venues in South Florida (more in the Ft. Lauderdale or WPB area) that would facilitate this kind of reception?  More substantial than what I understand to be a "cocktail-style reception" but maybe they're just variations of the same concept?

We're probably looking at 150-175 guests.  Any recommendations greatly appreciated!

The Hilton Marina in Fort Lauderdale can do this.  They can do whatever you like, even create "themed" stations (I got a quote for a NYC station:  mini reubens, potato pancakes, mini knishes).  I believe they also had a pre set food station reception menu.  HTH!

  • sometimes it's just the caterer you are working with.  they can make the stations happen anywhere.  I just got a quote for "station service" from Toss Catering.  It sounds really cool

  • I think you'll find that most venues can easily be set up for this style of a reception and that it really boils down to telling your caterer what you want!

  • I agree with Faith. Most venues can accomedate this but it just depends on how the caterer executes it.  The caterer im using is fantastic all together and id be a mess if i didnt pick them.  I am not doing the sations but they do provide them.  My Caterer is CA Catering in Hollywood.
  • Thanks, ladies.  Really appreciate the help!
