NWR - Facebook related PSA

So I love my job because everyday I do something different.  So today I've been researching privacy setting on social networking sites for disclosure purposes.  (social networking has become a large part of the legal process becuase of the type of information everyone posts - and who has the right to see it etc.)  And knowing all I know I even found one or two things I needed to change.  I hope you all know that a few months ago when the last facebook format change took place ALL or MOST of your privacy setting were reset?!?!

So please do yourself a favor and make sure you check your privacy settings! Your photoalbums need to be set individually - its easy.  Remember that they now allow advertisers to use your images if you havnt blocked them!! Have a great Thursday my beautiful brides!!

I was on Pandora yesterday on my computer (I typically use it on my BB) and it pulled my FB info.  It would tell me which one of my friends likes the song and who's station is their favorite.  Kinda creepy IMO!

One of the best ways to find out how private your profile is -- sign out of facebook, and then google your name + facebook. It will show you your profile as viewed by a complete stranger.

I did that and realized that everyone could see the Pages I'm a fan of and all the Groups I joined.  I instantly modified that list. I have joined groups that cover topics like religion, politics, abortion, local clubs I belong to, etc, and felt like this was a MAJOR loophole in facebook privacy.

One other thing to remember is that despite these assurances of security, there are SO many loopholes. For example, I uploaded a Private album of wedding dress shopping pictures to facebook. I allowed only my Wedding Party & Mom to see them, but I tagged each of the girls in the picture. Well, apparently tagging someone COMPLETELY removes the privacy settings and anyone who is friends with those people can now see the pictures. So ok, I untagged everyone thinking that would fix it. Oh no, not so. If anyone so much as comments on a picture, it gets posted on News Feed and their profile, thus bypassing your privacy settings and revealing the picture/album to anyone they are friends with.
