questions about invitation guidelines

so my wedding is 12.4.10 and my shower will probably be 10.2.10

- Is there a protocol on what invitation needs to be mailed out first?
- I have lots of guests that are out of town, should I mail them bridal shower invites too or just the people that are local?


I was thinking of mailing the shower invites the first week of september and the formal ones mid september so that we can have rsvp's back by october 23rd. is that enough time for people to rsvp?!

my shower was this past saturday and i mailed out the invites i would say the last week of july. im mailing my formal invites tommorrow and my wedding is 10/29/10 and the rsvp date is 10/3/10.. i think since you say you have lots of OOT guests, i would mail them in september just so they have it early..but i think your rsvp date is wayy too soon.. your wedding is 2 months after your rsvp date - you should make your rsvp's the second to last week of november

okay that sounds good. I'll do that. The hotel rooms that are blocked need to be booked by November 4th, so I'll just remind them to do that. thanks so much!

My formal invites went out before my shower invites but that is just because of when my BM decided to send out the shower invites.  I also think your RSVP date is way too soon.  I would make it around November 15th.  HTH

I would sent the ones for the shower like now! and the ones for the wedding the first week of october or late september to oot guest... 2 months is usually the rule... lol...gl

You can send out shower invites now if you want.

As for the wedding invites, I think a month ahead of time is a good RSVP date, and that way it coincides with the wedding block rate deadline. All of the wedding invites I've received recently have been around a month before the date.
