What's on your Must Play List and Do Not Play List?

What songs you really want to hear on the dance floor at your reception and which one are you dreading to hear?

I should ask you for some Spanish music advice! :) Are you coming to the G2G this Saturday?
  • Unfortunately, I won't be able to make the GTG!  I voted for that day and everything...I just can't find someone to watch the kids.  Originally, their dad was going to be off from work that day.
    :-(
I like a lot of old school salsa and some merengue.  I have no idea about the newer stuff!  Anything by Marc Anthony is always good in my book.  El Gran Combo, Hector Lavoe, Ruben Blades, Tito Nieves, and El Grupo Niche are a few good artists.

  • must haves: Livin' on a prayer and Born to be my baby by Bon Jovi...Don't stop believin' by Journey...SExy and I know it (FI isn't typically one to go out on the dance floor but is hysterical when this song comes on)...and Jump On It.  Those are the top ones that come to mind right now.

def not: anything all fist pumping...no macarena, chicken dance, or anything like that

Me and FI's brother think we need to throw in a Celia Cruz song for their Abuela and Abuelo (they're hi Cuban grandparents from Hialeah) :-)

  • We're doing the music ourself so I really need to get thinking about what we'll play. Me and FI are not into chart stuff. And neither is my bridesmaid and her boyfriend. Besides them our whole guest list is basically over the age of 50!

So we'll be playing a lot of motown, 60s girl groups and just a lot of old music which we actually like. We'll play a few well known recent chart stuff but yeah no songs that have a dance routine!

  • Sorry to highjack the post but for Spanish that everyone will like especially during cocktail hour/dinner is Rhythms del Mundo Cuba. D I will bring you a copy of the CD. Hands down best download I did waaaay before the wedding. Modern songs with a Spanish twist.
