Need reception help.

My fiance and I have been look at possibly ceremony/reception sites throughout Cleveland area. We found some that are nice and would work, but I want to find something better. The hardest part about this search is that we have our own caterer so that eliminates a lot of places altogether.
A lot of websites I visit seem to be very outdated with their photos, it's hard to tell what the place looks like! I want something more modern/updated or something with exposed wood beans, etc. I found one place that looks amazing but they don't allow alcohol! That would save us money but I don't think our guests would enjoy that.
All in all, I'm already stressing about finding a place to have our reception (and possibly ceremony) site! Anyone know of some hidden gems in Cleveland/Akron area? Thanks!

How many guests are we talking? Small wedding (under 100) or huge list (like 300)? What places have you looked into so far?

Yes - guest list would be key b/c  there seems to be some cool unique options around but max out @100-150 people often.  Modern conflicts in my mind with exposed wood beams (to me that feels rustic, etc.) but I may not be envisioning what you are asking for.  Can you give us an idea of what places work for you that you have looked at so we can give you ideas that are along those lines?  Also - do you want a location that you can hold both ceremony and reception in one place and are you looking for indoor/outdoor for ceremony reception.  Sorry for all the questions - there are just a lot of options between Cleveland and Akron and the surrounding counties!

Check out the Fairview Park Rec Center... it is about 2 years old and they have a couple different room sizes.  It is really nice!! The price is great too! The reception areas are at the front of the rec center so you will be away from the people going in and out.  Plus it closes fairly early as well!  I would check out some things in the Metroparks (depending on the amount of people you'll be inviting).

Thanks everyone for the help so far, it helps me a lot I love unique places with character. Some places that interested me were Josaphat Hall, the Old Courthouse, and a few art museums. It doesn't have to have beams, but I like that look along with more of a modern look (not together.) If anything, I think we would want our wedding to be more of a modern look than rustic. 

I would like to have the reception and ceremony site in one place so people don't have to drive, but if I find that perfect place, I'm willing to compromise. I would like to have the ceremony outdoors, but with Ohio weather, I don't know if I want to risk it. So that option is still up in the air.

The guest list will be no more than 150. If I find a place I love that can only hold 100 or whatever, I would opt for that. It would save money in the long run too!

I noticed you said the old court house - did you visit it? What was it like? thinking about setting an appointment there. You should also check out the Glidden House on Univ. Circle.
