Miami Churches for Ceremony

Hello all!

My fiance and I are looking to get married in early August of next year. We have been looking all over Miami for a nondenomenational church to get married in - or a church that will marry nonmembers.

Our best option so far has been the Coral Gables Congregational church, which is beautiful but the latest we can get married is on a Sunday at 2. We were hoping for a Friday or Sunday night reception, which means we would need to find a way to entertain our guests for two hours between the ceremony at 2 and reception at 5. Especially because the reception site is about 15 minutes away.

We can get married there later but the price jumps from $1200 to $2000, which is out of our budget. And on Fridays you can ONLY get married at 7:30 PM for the $2000.

Does anyone have any recommendations on cute churches in Miami to get married, that will let us bring our own pastor? (Our church doesn't have a building, thus the need to look elsewhere.)

OR do you have any ideas for an inexpensive way to entertain our guests for 1.5 hours? We don't have many out of towners so a tour bus (suggested elsewhere) would be unnecessary and inexpensive. I'm checking to see if the church will let us have snacks on the lawn or something.

Nothing has been booked yet, so all options are possible! Thanks!

  • FI and I are not members of any church and are getting married at the First United Methodist Church of Coral Gables. It's a beautiful church but I am not sure if you are allowed to bring your own pastor. It's worth checking it out. GL!
  • Thanks! I was thinking about them, we drove by the other day and love the building! I'll call them in the morning. I'm just wondering about whether we can bring our pastor.

Does anyone know of any other chuches, just in case?

I did some research and was reading about this church...seems like they are flexible about their ceremonies so maybe they will be able to accomodate your reques :) It's a beautiful church, http://www.trinitymiami.org/

Also, this one seems to allow other priests to do wedding ceremonies. You just need to show proof...check it out : http://www.stjosephmiamibeach.com/CatholicChurch.asp?op=Marriage

    Both are open to non-members!
  • Let me know if you find a good one....I am still deciding on whether I want it to be in a church or not.
