Need Dress Help from other brides!!!

Hey girls... OK - here's the dihlemma (not the worst problem to have, but alas, here goes) - -

I started off looking at ballgowns and found a beautiful big lacey dress that I loved (see it here). However, after having lost 20 lbs since becoming engaged, I started to try on some dresses that were more form fitting and was really loving seeing my new shape in those. Yay!

Knowing this, I went back to Kleinfelds and was shown the Ravini Dari - a gorgeous, exquisite lace tiered dress (look here) that is absolutely gorgeous - but now I'm wondering if I need more sparkle and more drama!!! I love the lace, but I feel like I want a longer train, a little bigger belt, etc.

So... I'm back to the salon tomorrow to see what else they show me, but feeling pretty flustered --these dresses are not cheap, and I want to make the right decision and LOVE my dress -  what's a girl to do???

  • The link for dress #1 will not open for me. But dress #2 is very pretty. It looks like a Maggie Sottero that I tried on. I can't remember the name of it but it's much much less expensive. 7k for a wedding dress is ridiculous.

  • Have you looked at Lazaro dresses? My dress is Lazaro and is in the same price range as Rivini. His dresses are unbelievable and the detail in the beadwork is amazing. It's definitely for the bride that wants to stand out. Plus his dresses look like they cost double the price. This is my dress... http://www.jlmcouture.com/Lazaro/Bridal/Fall/2011/Style-3161 the opposite of simple!

  • Beautiful! Thanks for the advice... (also PS - the price posted is way over what I'd pay for it)

  • Budget definies the dress. What is your budget? Where are you getting married?

  • Personally, I absolutely love your first dress better. I think it is beautiful and I'm not even a ballgown type of gal. I just like the detail and everything on it better than the trumpet style one, but if your looking to show off your curves, then a trumpet style dress would definitely do that, but I'd go for more of that sparkle you were thinking of.

  • Personally, I think the first dress is absolutely GORGEOUS! Definitely like it better than the second one. But, it's your wedding day! :)

Both dresses are gorgeous!!!  Sorry, I'm no help!!!
  • I love the Rivini one... The second one.... Its more romantic love the Trumpet/mermaid look... remember that you are seeing the dress without the accessories, wider belt, veil, etc... I understand what you are saying though. But you could accessories any of those two dresses.....

  • I LOVE the first dress....I actually think it would probably make you look slimmer than ther 2nd one because your waist will be cinched in more in the first.  But if you don't LOVE either of them you should keep looking. :)
  • The Ravini dress screams sexyKiss, chicCool and just enough blingMoney mouth! If you are in the market of showing those newly found- hard earned curves, then the second dress is DEFINITELY the one! The first one reminds me of an 80's 90's ballgown, been there, done that... At the end of the day, go with the one that makes you feel like the most beautiful woman in the world! God bless

  • I am in LOVE with the second one!!!

However... my advice is to go with the one that YOU FEEL the best in. We are all going to look fabulous on our wedding day, we're paying people a nice sum of money to do our hair and makeup, lol. On the day of your wedding, no one is getting a picture of the two dresses to compare. They will just see you in the one dress that you buy and they are going to think you look gorgeous no matter which it is. So... All you need to do is figure out which one makes you feel the best and makes you feel like a bride.

  • Thank you everyone for your words of advice!!! I think I'm going to go with the 2nd one - or at least the shape of the 2nd one... I will keep you posted!

  • I love the first one. It would make you look like a princess.

After losing weight, I understand that you want to show it off!

My advice is, if you really like the first one (that's MY vote) then wear that one and change dresses to a more casual form fitted dress at the reception.

    HTH! GL!
