need your help!! Vent and it's LONG

I need Knottie Help!!!! So, I was surprising FI with a Groom's cake... I had emailed this company(who a lot of people have used) and said it's a SECRET groom's cake. I would like to schedule a tasting but, please make sure this is a secret when we arrive and just say it is a bridal dance cake(which it will be also) . When we arrive, she said ohhh I double booked and have no more cake left... is this the GROOM's CAKE? I almost died! and didn't know what to say... she finally realized it and said she was soooo sorry. She said she would personally deliver the cakes to our house and we can have a tasting at home. Well, she delivered everything to our home(FI was home before me)and when I saw... nothing was labeled! I didn't know what flavor was what... so I called and they said they were sooo sorry, what I will do is.. come into the store and I will do another tasting. So we plan it for Saturday morning since we will be in the area. Well, we are lost so we call her(my car has speakerphone) and Mark tells her we are lost and what is her location. She said I don't do tasting on Saturday what is this for? I said this is Beth and it's the cake tasting that wasn't labeled....she then SAYS...and this was the 2nd time I almost died.... OHHH THE DIRTBIKE HELMET CAKE!!! well needless to say she just GAVE IT ALL AWAY. So, I just went with it... what could I do. She then said sorry a million times and I thought.. maybe she would give us a discount. Well I got the invoice today and the price is the same.... Should I still use her???? I'm a month away and don't want to stress over finding another cake person, but I'm mad!

This woman is crazy... I cannot believe that she did that...again and again!!
Here's the thing - I wouldn't use her but being that your wedding is a month out there aren't too many options for you...

you could use another company but your FI already knows about the surprise so it still wouldnt be a surprise. But you would be showing her that her actions are totally unacceptable - which they are. Like you said, that would be adding more stress to you. If the cake was perfect, exactly what you were looking for and tasted great then I would say maybe the best thing for you would be to suck it up and use her anyways.

If I was in your postition I would go elsewhere, or at least tell her that and hopefully she would be able to give you a significant discount trying to keep you. Just be honest, her behavior was totally unacceptable and her disorganization caused you to make several unnecessary visits. Demand a discount or tell her your taking your business elsewhere. For all she knows you could have quotes from other bakeries.

Sorry this happened to you. HTH!

If you want to use her def right back and say, since you kept ruining four tastings and on top of it blew the suprise on numerous occasions I think there should be some kind of significant discount on this grooms cakes

Or write.. Where is my "baker ruined grooms suprise" discount?

That totally sucks!  I am sorry she is absent-monded and totally unprofessional.  Wedding planning is hard enough without having to deal with that.

I have a great cake person for you to contact  - Adriana with SugarSweet Dreams Cake Co. (find her business page on FB - she is like Ace of Cakes awesome).  Adri is best friends with one of my BMs - you can tell her Michelle's friend Andrea referred you (this may help on the price, not sure).
    HTH & GL!

Omg, I'm so pissed for you!!  I don't have balls to ask for a discount, but if you do, I say go for it!

Otherwise, If its not too much trouble I'd look elsewhere.  But again, so sorry you're going through this!

    O. M. G. IDK. I feel like you have to have the cake now that FI knows...and looking for another vendor is just more stress. As someone who is also moving and having a wedding soon, I can say that you don't need more stress! I might be honest with her..."While I enjoyed your cakes, I'm disappointed with your customer service related to mis-scheduling the cake-tastings and ruining the surprise cake for FI..." and let her know that you're reconsidering. Maybe she'll do the right thing and offering you a discount. :( GL.

I agree with pp that I would just be honest with her and tell her how you are feeling.  Hopefully, she will offer a discount of some sort.  Try not to stress about it.

Definitely bring up a discount! She is so unprofessional and a scatter brain!! UGH! If you don't at least ask, you'll never know. The worst that could happen is she says no and then you make your decision.

I'm sorry this happened to you! :(

I would ask for a Discount & if she does not give you one I would find someone else just to make a point, Their are so many Bakers out there that the stress should be minimal.

I would def. find someone else!!! OMG I would be pissed. Because if she's messing up this bad now, who knows what she will mess up on the day of. I would just say nevermind and find someone new. Is this the same place you are using for your wedding cupcakes?

Thanks Ladies! Danielle Pearson called her and she gave me 25% off the cake which i I am happy about. Crossing my fingers she delivers it!! Christina, it was a different vendor, they don't make "custom" cakes at Couture
