What can be done instead?

I saw many times that couples put their professionally taken picture in a frame at the entrance to the reception. I've been thinking about that but we don't have any suitable picture for that unless I just pick a cute one and work on it in Photoshop. But again, it requires time and skills with the program, and I lack both in this situation.

What could be used instead? Maybe some of you saw or actually did something different?

well if your thinking of doing a picture maybe you can find a good deal with a photographer (depending if u can work it into your budget) to do engagment pics... some have offers once in a while for like $99 ... you can always just skip the picture all together..im sure ppl wont notice

Is this something you're set on doing?  Because you don't have to have picture for people to sign.  We didn't have one, no one noticed.

If it's something you really want to do, is there a friend or family member that can do a little photo shoot for you and your FI at the beach or wherever you'd like so that you can get a nice photo to blow up?

you really dont have to have a picture, we didnt.  But if you really want one just dress up one day and have someone take pictures of you in a park, at the beach, or even your backyard will work.  After all, you just need one picture.

I agree. We are having a pic because I want to balance of the sign in table, since I'm putting the seating chart in a frame on the table too. We don't have money to do engagement pictures and to be quite honest I don't really see the point to them. But we have plenty of friends that have come to us saying they have a friend that are starting a photography business, so we plan on dressing up closer to the date and having some pics taken then they can be blown up at walgreens and I am sure other places for relatively cheap.
