Restaurant food for catering

I recently found out that my caterer is leaving his business, so now I am back to square one with my reception food. I am on a strict budget and it is close to impossible to find catering services with in our price range. What do you think of having restaurant food catered for the reception? For example, my FI is Italian so we were thinking pasta. But I love Mexican (so does my family), so I was also thinking of having a taco/burrito bar. I know it is nothing fancy, but I want a really laid back "family reunion" type reception and I really do not want BBQ food. From what I have heard the restaraunts deliver, set up and take down the food. The guests could then serve themselves. Anyone had any experience with this?
