Ok ladies, I have been at it for like a month for centerpieces!!!! CRAZY I know. Suprisingly they have caused so much comotion with everyone having different ideas between me, FI, mom, FMIL and bridesmaid!
The place I am doing my wedding requires me to bring in outside vendors, which I wanted because I didn't want to get a place where I could only pick their vendors and then not have the money for it and get stuck with things I don't like. I think flowers are very important but I really don't want to pay too much for it. FI's mom has been diriving me insane to get tall arrangements with a few flowers. Truth be told I don't like it, yea I like calla lilies but I don't want them to be the center of attention. My colors are blue, orange and light green, so I am looking for fun colors and flowers not elegance and plain. Also the wedding is outside and I am not a fan of glass vase centerpieces to go with my garden theme.
FI's grandma use to do flower arrangements but she lacks all the materials to do it (which I was more than willing to buy everything all she had to do was put them together), but most importantly she lacks the refrigeration to keep them cool over night.
A BM and I were looking through magazines and I fell in love with the table set up with a topiary as a centerpiece. So I began to buy some materials and did the research for other materials. Grandma knows how to make them, but I don't think she's practiced too much with real flowers. On top of that FMIL keeps making other suggestions so I keep getting the impression like maybe the grandma is not the way to go (even though I keep hearing you use to do beautiful things with flowers from other family members).
Yesterday FMIL were looking through flower arrangement websites and I actually saw things I liked at a fairly good price $40-$60. And she kept trying to talk me out of topiaries saying that they are more expensive than I think and complicated which I kind of understand. And looking through the website I really did see things I liked. I was so happy I went this morning tgo Trias Flowers and saw so much pretties!!!! The arrangement we originally saw to small but then I saw another one that caught my eye and it was exactly the flowes I wanted, hydrangeas and orange roses with green lil' button flowers!! All of which are the wedding colors. She said that the arrangement is about $55 and I asked if I could bring in my own pots cuz they had glass! She said yea and that will bring the cost to like $45! which I think its great. The flower shop is near my venue so they don't mind delivering.
So I want to use my terra cotta pots I had bought which cost me like a dollar at michaels. The only problem is FI doesn't really like the color of the terra cotta pots and I can kind of see his dilemma. So we are looking to paint them, Not white because that's the color of the linen. Now I tell my mom and she's like, why am I going to paint them and I suggested silver and she was like, thats ugly (I thought of that cuz it adds a lil' elagnce cuz it is a wedding after all).
So my questions are...
Whats the average for centerpeieces?
Should I paint the terra cotta pots?
