Hair Appointment...

So I went to the mall weeks ago to see which hair place would be available on Halloween.  Holiday Hair apparently does not make appointments.  Lame.  There's another place in the mall, some local thing, that does make appointments and their prices aren't too bad.  So I reserved 9am for myself and 5 bridesmaids.  The girl scheduling the appointment said that they would have enough stylists come in so we could all be done at the same time and get out quickly.  She said she wouldn't book any of the stylists until noon to make sure we had enough time.I went there Friday because now I only have two bridesmaids and my mom coming, so I had to cancel two spots.  The girl tells me they're all booked at 9, but I can see inside the appointment book and that I'm one of the appointments scheduled.  I explained for about 5 minutes that, no, I am one of the appointments.  So she tells me that we'll have to get two done first and the other two after the first two are done because there are 3 bridal parties scheduled for 9am.Then I went to schedule my trial, and apparently the girl who is scheduled to do my hair is booked every Saturday in October, leaves at 4 every day, and doesn't come in on Sundays.  The receptionist was supposed to call her and schedule her to come in some other time to get the trial done.  The girl was working yesterday, but no one called me back to let me know if I have an appointment or not.I don't know if I should keep pursuing it or tell them to go to hell.  The only other hair salons around here don't take appointments. What would you do?

Re: Hair Appointment...

  • Honestly? I'd tell them to go to hell. None of the other salons in your area take appointments? That's insane! Is there a beauty school around? They will take appts and like to have "live" hair to learn on. Maybe you could make appts there for a trial and if you like it, take the 4 of you there day of. Good luck - that sucks!
  • I'd give up on that place.  It doesn't sound like they are reliable enough for you.  If they can't get it together now for the trial I would hate for something to happen on your wedding day. I just googled and there are 553 salons in Allentown...someone should be able to make an appt. Some suggestions if you can't find someone are... 1.  Post on craigslist to find someone to maybe come to you instead of booking in a salon 2.  Ask around and ask at your venue.  Sometimes they have a list of vendors and may know of someone.  Also, ask at the local bridal shop, I'm sure they know of someone as well. 3.  Check the beauty school.  The students have to be supervised and it's their grade so nobody is gonna do anything jacked up if they've got someone looking over their shoulder. (I'm sure it's happened but I've always had good luck at the local beauty school) 4.  There are alot of beauticians that work out of their homes.  If you put an ad out in the local paper you may even get a great stylist trying to make some extra cash in this recession. Get references if you have someone that isn't in a salon and be sure to verify the license, get everything in writing when you decide....protect yourself too ya know! Good luck!
  • hollieheidi has some GREAT ideas! Honestly, I'd tell them they are not working out. They arn't providing the type of customer service you're looking for, and tell them you found someone else (even if you haven't yet.) I wouldn't tell them to go to hell LOL but yea, I'd give them a piece of my mind!
  • I'd tell them to shove it as well. Seriously. Hollieheidi basically said anything else that I was going to say. The only thing I can add is are you close to another town with more salons? Even if you have to drive just a little it could be worth it.

  • Well, all of the salons that I know of that make logistical sense to get to the morning of the wedding are walk-in only.  I do know someone who makes house-calls, but she is already doing my FMIL, and apparently she takes forever.  The wedding is in Easton, and I will be staying with FI's aunt in Nazareth the night before the wedding.  I guess I just have more investigating to do, but I am going to call and give the reserved salon a really hard time first.  Blech.
