catholic deacon fees

I would like a garden wedding with a catholic-like ceremony. I know priests will not do the deed outside of a catholic church but I heard a deacon can do it. Has anyone done this? Does anyone know the fees involved? Do we still have to do classes?

    Hi guys!
    You do still have to take classes and you have to "shop" around for a priest or deacon who will do it.  At my church, the only way they (priest or deacon) will marry you outside of the church is if you have a small ceremony in church...This means you get married with just you, you groom, and a witness or ur parents.  Once you've done your vows in church they will marry you anywhere else.  So it really depends on the church and how strict it is.  A friend of mine found a priest in the san diego area willing to marry them outside of the church.

    Make sure to call churches up and ask them upfront.  Just Remember, if you are not a parishioner there, they charge more!
