NWR: Southern California Quake Information

If you don't like getting a bunch of sensational junk on TV about the latest quake and want to get the bare facts, the best place to go is here:

http://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/recenteqsus/Maps/US2/31.33.-116.-114_eqs.php

Latest quake has an initial magnititude of 6.9 on the seismic moment scale. The epicenter was 16 miles South South West of Guadalupe Victoria Mexico. The focus was at a depth of 32.3 kilometers beneath the earth's surface.

The earthquake thus far has been felt as far away as  Las Vegas.  Hope everyone had a safe weekend.

UPDATE:  Earthquake has been updated to 7.2.

Not to freak anyone out, but given the way these sort of things work, it is adviseable for the next 48 hours that you have flashlights, batteries, water, and comfortable shoes, food etc in the event that this triggers a larger seismic event--this is a no brainer for those of us that live in Southern California.  I am stating the pretty obvious here.Though not exactly pretty per se.
