Changing last name?

I was just wondering how many of your were planning to take your hubby's last name and how many will keep her own?I was sure I wanted to take his last name, but now as the wedding gets closer, I'm getting sentimental about giving up my own!

I'm taking his last name but I am making my maiden name my middle name so I don't have to totally give it up.

i am just so excited about taking his last name, i just think that is one of the best things about getting married, now the two of you are a family. one other good thing for me is right now my last name starts with a W but after i get married it will start with a B so i am moving on up to the top of the list, LOL . i just cant wait.

sadly, my last name ends with my dad and uncle. our family is full of girls! i will be taking FI's last name and we will BOTH have my last name as our middle names. i think it's a nice compromise. our kids will also have my last name as their middle :)

I don't think I would feel completely married if I didn't take his last name, so I'll be taking his last name.

I wans't going to take his at first and he thought it was kind of silly that the girl has to change who she is. But then we were standing in line to get our marriage license and I was like 'oh what the hell, sure I'll change it" haha I was made at my dad that day so I wasn't feeling very sentimental about my last name. haha

I'm taking his last name but keeping my last name as a second middle name. My last name will officially be my last name his last name, no hyphen. I will consider it a second middle name especially since I really like my current middle name.I'm really excited to take his last name. We already have been referreing to each other by his last name. We are having fun with it!!

Kcliveoutloud - I think I will do the same. I also look my middle name, so I think I will just move my maiden name to be my second last name. Thanks for the idea!

I'm actually keeping my name. His last name is pretty hard to pronounce, and a lot of people get my first name wrong.I thought I'd lessen the chances of going around for the rest of my life with two mispronounced names!

I took his last name, and my last name became my middle name.

I am keeping my name. I never thought about it much, but then when we got engaged, I started feeling a little weird about giving up my name. Like some others mentioned, my last name is disappearing and it made me sad. It really is just an identity thing for me. I have had this name for so long. I might change my mind at some point in the future. My fiance is totally supportive of whatever I decide.

I have a unique last name and he has a hyphen last name. He brought up the idea of maybe having him change  his last name to mine, I know made me tear up when he suggested it. We are still discussing it but have other options such as to merge our last names (eh) or have him lose one of his last names and then hyphenate my name and have us both have the new name.

I'm taking my hubby's.  I like the sound of being Mr & Mrs. M.

dropping mine & taking his even though it is going to make my full name sound really strange. i have total "american/white" first and middle names and will have a common spanish last name.

I took his last name. I've been married 6 yrs and it now sounds so weird saying my name with my maiden name. I don't think it's that big of a deal and you just get used to it after a while. Plus I have a brother so I figured it wouldn't be a big deal.

i have a very hard dutch/german last name and its really annoying to have to pronounce/spell it ALL the time, im happy to become just another sanchez!

I'm taking his, even though mine is ending with our generation.  I guess thats what happens when you have 4 girls and no sons.  I have never thought of taking my maiden as my middle.  We are just planning on carrying on other family name tradtions asaide from my soon to be maiden name, such as my son having my dads name as his middle name.

I legally and professionally kept my last name. Socially I go by his last name or mylastname hislastname -- not hyphenating.

I'm hyphenating mine because I don't want to lose my spanish last name but I also want to have his last name. I like my middle name so I did not want to give up that either.

I think I'm gonna hyphenate. Like so many of you, my last name is gonna die out soon, and professionally, I am known by my last name.  But I love him, and I want to take his name, too.
