Tuxedo Styles

Another issue I am obsessing over is tuxedo styles. My dress style is really formal and I want my Fi to match, that means I want him in tails mostly because I think he could pull it off splendidly and I don't think he will ever wear them again.I am going to be asking my seamstress to save a swatch off my dress so we can match colors of white/ivory; but what is really driving me nuts is the bowtie vs cravat issue. Most of the grooms I see wear cravats/aka ties.  FI has told me he prefers the classic tuxedo ala James Bond with a bowtie.  Would this look dated?  Or should I wait until I see him at his fitting in Decemeber. What I am thinking for matching attire is to have him in tails with a black jacket, black pants, ivory shirt, ivory vest ivory bowtie or cravat whatever he prefers--groomsmen in simpler tuxedo jackets, no tails, silvery grey or taupe vests, with either matching or black tuxedo bows or cravats.Do I need to be arrested by the fashion police or does it sound like it would work?

I think that you should wait to see how it looks at his fitting, before telling him it looks dated. I'm no fashion police so not sure about the groomsmen being in simpler tuxes & FI being in tails, but I think it should be fine, after all the bride is really formal and I am sure the BM wouldn't be as formal as the bride. I see that now a days the grooms want to stick out from their groomsmen just like the bride does, and I think that is very cool. If you are concerned with how he looks next to his groomsmen, perhaps you can have a groomsmen go to his fitting in Dec & have them stand next to each other.
