Florists below 1k? Is that possible?

I know there are old threads in here about Flowers but I cant find them anymore! I did take notes then and looked up Acton Country and La Mirada flowers for less but Im not sure if they will deliver to Los Angeles (I kind of want some place that will deliver "local"). So is it possible to find a florist for only that much? I can adjust... but only for a little bit!!!!!! I will only have 50 guests max, and I really can't justify spending more than that on flowers alone!! :) It will be for a small church and a private party at a restaurant. Thanks! :)

YES IT IS POSSIBLE!!!!!!! I'm right under 1k. I'm not sure what exactly you want, if you are looking for elaborate centerpieces or what. But with 50 guest I don't see why it's not possible. This is what I'm getting and I'm right under 1k: -Bride Bouquet -Flower for hair -Grooms Boutinniere -Best Person Bouquet or BM -Mother (2) -Father (2) -Brother Boutonniere - Flower girl small pomanders (2) -Flower girl halos (2) Ceremony -8 medium pomander balls for down the aisle -8 shepard hooks stands (renting) LOTS OF PETALS! Reception -4 tall (3feet) Manzanitas trees -4 low centerpieces MORE PETALS TABLES ETC.. These are the flowers we are using: Roses- black magic, black bacarra, and some red roses Calla Lilies-plum, Orchids-Plum, burgundy Hydrangeas- dark red, burgundy This florist is located in the flower District and will go pretty much anywhere but won't charge an arm and leg for it. They also do mock ups and will continue to do it till you are completely satisfied. Also since our DOC has added this vendor in her preferred list when she went with us, he threw a few perks here and there, I had initially heard about this florist from another knottie and I really fell in love with her wedding. If you are interested with the info email and I could also direct you this other knottie pics so you can see their work! GL! soon_to_be_mrs.m@hotmail.com

I know you can get deals downtown...but I hate going down there and I wanted to use someone that doesn't do 3 or 4 other weddings on the same day. They could be late--they might bring the wrong freakin flowers! (Yes, I know someone that had this happen) My florist is amazing and she is so reasonable--BRIDE and BLOOM WEDDING FLOWERS. My friend used her for a wedding of abot 50 people at they had bouquets, bouttonieres (sp?), centerpieces, petals, and altar arrangements for about $1000. She had roses, hydrangeas, dahlias GORGEOUS STUFF. My wedding is bigger we have 150 guests and right now we are at about $2300. Plus, I know I am her only wedding that day, she only does 1 wedding per day. She has some pricing on her website. www.brideandbloomflowers.com

Check out Eddie at Commerce Flowers.  I gave him a budget of $2000 and the final total was $1600 - but I had 130 guests, 14 centerpieces, etc.  If you only have 50 guests, I'm sure you can do it for less than $1k!

I'm using the florist at my ceremony site (which is SO easy for me), but I'll just mention that if you cut down on ceremony flowers and do simple or DIY center pieces, you'll save a ton. I'm only doing bouquets, bouts and corsages and I'm WAY under $1,000. Florists love to sell you all sorts of extras, so just stay strong.

I gave mine a $800 budget for 130 people, so yes, it is possible.  I am saving money by not falling in love with any type of bloom--whatever's white and in season will work fine for me.  Plus, I am buying all the vases myself, at Ikea and other cheap stores, which is also saving me a lot.  And, by just doing a few blooms per table, in a bunch of vases, and filled in w/ candles, we're going to get a pretty look, w/out blowing the bank.  Oh, and all of our bouqets are going to be small.  HTH!

Thanks so much girls! These are all very helpful! A part of me thought of DIYing but I'm just not a craft person! :) Im going to be looking up all of your recos! Im quite interested too in the downtown one, since my wedding will be there! I also didnt mention that I will not have bridesmaids, just an MOH and 3 flower girls. :) SO i suppose it'll be even cheaper! :) If anyone can add to the list, please keep it coming! :)

Try Oops a Daisy Flowers in Redondo.  My friend used them for her wedding and they worked with her budget.  Ask for Debbie, she's the owner and if a deal can be made, she make it.310 798 8887

It's definitely possible for that guest count.I'm going with Flower Allie but she is in OC so I don't know how the traveling to LA would be.  I know she delivers though. She is super inexpensive and always has a good attitude.

The biggest money sink in your flowers will be your ceremony and personal flowers. As in your bouquet and your boutonnieres all florists inflate the cost of those and that's where the bulk of their profit on a wedding comes from. Standard cost for the typical bridal bouquet is like $150.  And you usually you are lucky if you get like $50 worth of flowers in there.  The mark up is 300% sometimes more.  It's even worse for boutonnieres you pay like $15  sometimes $30 for like one or two flowers(that you could have gone to Ralphs and gotten a flower for $2.00, cut it tapped it and pinned it yourself). So if you can get away with doing your own personal flowers and only having to get centerpieces you will cut your costs by half. That's precisely the reason we are DIYing our flowers.

Have you checked with Commerce Flowers in the city of commerce? We are having about 40-70 guest, not decorating the church, only the receptions and are spending about 1000.
