Videographer - How Much is a Decent Video?

I've been looking for a Videographer for my July 2010 wedding and have been receiving quotes that're all over the map! I know you get what you pay for (I received a quote for $495 - seems WAY too cheap) but think that almost $3000 is a little much! How much are you paying??

Do you want just the raw footage? or do you want them to include editing to have an actual DVD of the day with chapters? I think that puts a big difference with quotes.

I dont want the raw footage - definitely edited but I dont need all the crazy effects. I guess something in the middle??

Mine was about 1600 for edits and raw footage.

My BIL did ours and he's got a few knotties interested in hiring him. We're using Terry Hanson from La-event.com.  His prices are listed on his website, so there really was no guessing game with him.  And he's not into fancy special effects, just telling your story.I couple of other knotties have used him and they were very pleased with his work.
