Day-of Wedding Coordinator?

Do we really need a DOC?  I didn't think about hiring one.....but one of my friend suggested that I should....in case anything goes wrong that day.

Any recommendations?  And do you know how much does one cost?  Thx thx

=)

I LOVED having a DOC. I had no idea what time it was or what I was supposed to be doing when. My DOC not only set up the reception, but rescued my first dance song, told us when to DO the first dance, when to do introduction, cake cutting, have dinner, etc. She got in touch with all my vendors to act as the contact point. It was wonderful. If you can swing it, I would highly recommend it for your sanity. I used Christina Molina.

DOC will make sure everything runs smooth & be the link between you & your vendors. You can enjoy the wedding/party and not worry about a thing.

This is my friends company here in LA:

    Dee is amazing!

I am also on the hunt for a Day of Coordinator.  I was wondering what the cost of a DOC is.  I only ask because, just as jwdeldotto mentioned I hadn't considered it until my Maid of Honor insisted upon one.  I don't want to be cheap but I still need to keep in mind my budget ...

    Best,

I'm looking into a DOC and I'm on a budget as well. Check out designsforlessevents. She's running a Day of Special right now for $400 and she offers a lot more than most do for "day of" Def one for the bride on a budget.

I'm working with Kami and Debbie.  They've been very helpful.  So far so great!
    Planned Elegance.com is the site

I would recommend using a DOC, but choose wisely. I used Planned Elegance with Kami and Debbie and I was hugely disappointed. Debbie had a VERY bad attitude and Kami just seemed aloof and inexperienced. My vendors and guest made some of the same observations. They were also dressed unprofessionally (t-shirts, sweatpants, and sneakers). Luckily for me I had some of my friends acting as hostesses because they were able to pick up where Kami and Debbie fell short or just couldn't care less to act. Kami was great in the beginning, because we just spoke periodically on the phone, but on the big day, it was a total let down. She was hired for more than DOC but didn't do more than DOC duties. She also left the wedding early leaving my husband and I to put away the candy buffet and a few other duties that guests stepped in to assist us with. What coordinator leaves before the bride and groom?
