Holiday Weddings?

Memorial Day is coming up, and I wanted to gauge how you guys thought about planning a wedding on the long weekend, or any holiday weekend for that matter...

What do you think?

Is it curtious to do it to allow for more time for the guests to be in the area, to be able to enjoy more time,

OR

Rude to assume that they will want to take the time out of a long weekend?

My cousin is getting married over July 4th weekend. I think it is fine to have a wedding on a holiday weekend. The only thing I would say, is give people a little more notice than usual, so they don't make other holiday plans.

I think its a GREAT idea but like Mellie mentioned I would give your guest enough notice so they don't plan any out of town vacation.

I think it's fine, but I wouldn't be offended if some guests didn't come.  Many families have yearly traditions on certain holidays.

I think it's fine, but keep in mind that if you have a lot of out of town guests, you may also be asking them to pay premium air fare prices, which might be a deterrent to some.

    This.

Technically, my wedding is on a holiday weekend, but it's Columbus Day, and most people don't have long standing plans.

I am having my wedding on "Black Friday" aka the Friday after Thanksgiving.  Most of our family and friends stay local for thanksgiving, and the few out of towners are planning to have thanksgiving with us in so cal.  We had to do it on a Friday because it was soooooo much cheaper, but didn't want people to have to take off extra time.  90% of our guests have Friday after thanksgiving off.

We told everyone the day at the engagment shower, but with about 6 months to go, we still haven't gotten the save the dates out.  We hopefully will finish them this weekend.
