I have been stressing and not wanting to take initiative on things but I REALLY REALLY need to...

I am puling myself out of the rut and I am going to be going FULL FORCE ahead.

Does the contract have any fine print on this situation?

All I hope is that you get your $$ back!

    Yes...

BUT the fact that they lied on more than one occasion is why it may get nasty...

They told 2 people they were booked but when I called, it was still open.

My thing is, how the hell would I even know if you booked??? Am I supposed to just trust you...well, I DONT and clearly for valid reasons...

From one bride to another, one that is in crunch time, to one that is in entering the most active phase:  Though you want to recooperate your money, you can't put all your eggs in that basket--you need to start planning around the money you have already spend.  Hope for the best: that you will get the money back, but be prepared for the worst: that you won't.

Pick your venue.  Pick your colors. Get cracking! There is stuff I wished I had thought about ahead of time, but I didn't because I was so worried about where we were going to live and so focused on getting our house that after we got it, the final phase of wedding planning hit me and I haven't had a moment's peace.

You can't let anything slow your planning momentum.  You deal with each problem, and move on because your whole wedding is greater than the sum of its parts. And though you have one part that is sticky, there are plenty of other details that can be hammered in place while you wait for it to be taken care of.

When you get down to the final weeks before you're wedding, there will be stuff you want to kick yourself for not addressing when you had more time.

Be kind to yourself by taking care of the stuff you can do in advance so you don't have to rush around at the last minute like a chicken with your head cut off. I used to play Warcraft before we got engaged.  I used to be a raider and before each raid, I had two hours of prep work each day that I would do before our 2 to 4 hour raid that would happen almost every night.

When I started planning our wedding, I reminded myself of the discipline that I had as a raid healer and how much time I had put in to giving my best game to completely anonymous strangers every night. I also reminded myself of how much my FI is more worthy of my attention than that.  If there is anything that I have taken from my experience as a gamer is that, small everyday efforts, consistently done and consistently attended to, pay off a greater reward than alot of scrambling at the very end.

One of my favorite teachers in Junior high had a quote that I will never forget: "take care of the little things, and the big things will take care of themselves."  Diligence, organization, and perservence will pay off.  You need to believe that they will.

I know exactly how you feel.  I think I mentioned how something happened to me and FI  along those lines although it wasn't our choice.  We lost our deposits for our photog, caterer, and venue!  It was aweful!  It took me a long time to get over it [ i don't even know that i'm completely over it lol] so I know how you feel.  I just had to finally kick my butt in gear and tell myself screw it. [referring to the money we lost] there's nothing we can do now.  We plan a wedding with what we do have and that's that.  and something that really helped me was FI was really encouraging and he just kept telling me "it's about our love...it's in celebration of our love" and he is totally 100% right.  Keep that in mind girly!
Everything will come together, just make it happen with what you do have! =]
    Good luck!

Christina completed our STD design already Smile

You get on it girl! We started with the design Sept '09 and I specifically started that early because I knew I wasn't her ONLY bride and trial and error I believe if I am correct we had her change the design 3 times and then had to approve the inserts. We are now in April and she's finally getting to printing them (7months) I all just takes time...

I have started very early on some stuff, some vendors I came across early in the planning process were like "you are too early" well you want my $ or not...if not I moved on to the next who didn't mind if I was too early.

So it would be ideal for you to start kicking butt, so at the end you are not stressing!

I must also agree with Candee...as much as it hurts ( we all know $$ doesn't grow on trees) you need to look forward and hope for the best!

Pick your venue!  You really can't plan anything (including the STDs) until you know where you are getting married!  I know that right now the venue seems like the be all end all, but keep in mind, it's just a place.  And, you can make any place work.  I have no thoughts on which place you should go with, but I really think you need to bite the bullet and pick one since you are getting pretty close and if you wait much longer, you won't be able to find a venue open on your date.  GL!
