LA Bridal Suites

Where are you LA Knotties getting ready on your wedding day?  What are you looking for in a bridal suite?

Our venue is downtown, but  most of the downtown hotels are more "buisness"-y and I don't know if thats the ideal location for our 1st couple nights as a wedding couple.  Also, we may want to just hang out the next couple of nights, so a location that was walking distance from places of interest (or at least low parking rates) would be a plus.  I figure I need an actual suite since we will be getting ready there also & a place that was attractive for picture-taking would also be nice.  Any suggestions?

A large tub would also be a plus ;-)

Our wedding is in downtown LA too.  We're thinking of getting ready at Millennium Biltmore Hotel

Weill I'm not staying at the same hotel I'm getting ready in. I willl be getting ready at my local Mariott hotel which is near to the church.

For our wedding night, we are staying at The Omni hotel in DT LA. It's a beautiful hotel and they offer a Romance Package ;) Can't wait for it yay!

We're staying at the Omni also, because it's across the street from our venue!

    Hmmm.....
So I was planning on doing the Omni, b/c it is SO close -- like a block &  I could easily walk.  But I didn't think the rooms looked particularly romantic.  Did anyone who booked the Omni see how the suites looked?

Last night I went ahead and booked a (cancel-able) room at the London Hotel in West Hollywood--Gordon Ramsey's hotel.  It's really gorgeous, the suites were almost what regular rooms were at the downtown LA hotels, and my fiance loves Gordon Ramsey, so I think that would be a cool surprise for him.

But now that other folks are so close, I am wondering if that is a better idea.  Not exactly sure how I would work the driving situation.  At least if i stayed really close, BMs could park at the venue and walk over--and then have their car right there at the end of the night.  :-/ hmmm..... So tricky!

Well with regards to getting ready, my church has always had brides getting ready in what they call their "youth room" opposite the main chapel.  It's a nice big room with a a comfortable couch and a bathroom with a big mirror and plenty of lighting.

I would say you want the room to be large enough to move around with your bridesmaids in there.  Plenty of lighting and plenty of places to sit--a nice big mirror is a major plus.

Before that, I decided it would be better to spend the night before in a hotel room just so my parents don't freak me out with the last minute details and I have a quiet night's sleep. The plan was to have the room double for our wedding night suite also.

Since we're in the West Valley area, I looked at both the Warner Center Marriott and the Woodland Hills Hilton.  I basically wanted a large bathroom, where I could  let my veil sit and steam all the wrinkles out, receiving area in the room(like a place to sit and hang out and still walk around if necessary), and I wanted an in room fridge(so I can stock it with goodies for our wedding night: champagne and lots of chocolate).

The Hilton offered much better rates than the Marriott on their junior suites, so cost ended up being the deciding factor(Marriott wanted three times the cost of the Hilton for their junior suites).  The Hilton also offered the option of upgrading to an executive suite for an additional $16.00 if they had space available, and if they didn't they would let me have the original room I booked.
