Negative vendor review question

Hi all. I usually post on the OC Board, but since this Board is a little more active, I thought I'd post my question here.

Here's the situation. Last year, I was accidentally cc'd on an email from a photographer to a potential intern. In this email, the intern (complete beginner) asked for tips, and the photographer followed up by asking if she wanted to assist at a wedding. Here's the quote: "just show up and you are just there to look like the second photographer that all photographers now a days, offer the bride in the contract... that is about it. i do all my own shooting and use only my images for her album." There was a lot more to the email (where the guy seemed like a jerk), but that was the part that really bugged me.

Here's my question: If someone posts a question asking about this photographer, can I/should I say anything? Can this vendor come back and sue me?

Thank you!

You're allowed to say things from your personal experience but you can't bash them (as in call them names).  If you just state the facts and leave your feelings out of it I don't see why not.  If you're very worried about this photographer coming after you, you can send the person asking about said photographer a PM and explain everything in the message.  Just let the person know you're sending them a PM so they know to check it.

I wouldn't be so kind about it.  I would post a review on Project Wedding.

Do you still have the email to prove it? If so, you're in the clear.

Thanks for the information! I do still have the email, and I'm not usually afraid to post negative reviews, but DH scared me and told me that since I wasn't the intended recipient of the email, I could sued for libel.

Thanks again! I feel much better!

If it's true, it's not libel. ;-) I went to school for journalism and we learned a LOT about the legal aspects of slander and libel. You're fine. I mean, in theory you COULD be sued, but there's no way you wouldn't win.
