Maui recs

I know a couple ladies asked for recs on Maui, so I thought we could start a thread right here if anyone else had input on it!

First off, if you haven't purchased a copy of Maui revealed, it is totally worth the investment.

Food:
Mama's Fish House - totally worth it for a special honeymoon meal.  Very pricey, but amazing.  We went for lunch to save a bit of dough, but it was fun because we could also sit and watch the windsurfers.  Make a reservation and request a window seat.

Aloha Mixed Plate:  We went there like 4 times during our trip last summer, and this place will be our first stop when we go back this summer.  Casual place, outside seating right on the water, the Mai Tais were some insane amount like $3 or $4 (and the best I had on the island), reasonable prices, and a huge variety.

Cool Cat Cafe:  Yummy burgers and onion rings

The Gazebo:  Super breakfast

Kimo's:  Excellent fish, beautiful view.  Get the hula pie.

Other Stuff:

We had an amazing time at the Old Lahaina Luau.  Book in advance.  It's often voted best luau on the island by the locals.

We stopped at Costco b/c we rented a condo, and bought breakast items, alcohol, POG (omg, we drank 2 gallons last time), etc.  This time we even have an oven in our room so we're picking up a pizza one night to bake and enjoy dinner out on our lanai.

Go snorkeling in the morning.  In the afternoon they don't take you to Molokini.

Go to the volcano, and wear tennis shoes.  It gets pretty chilly up there.  We didn't go for the sunrise, but I think we might go this time for the sunset.

If you need a place to stay, check out vrbo.com - it's a site where owners list their vacation homes/condos.  We scored a killer deal on our place.

I'm sure I'll think of more, so I'll add it as I think of it!

Aloha!

Well, thanks for this. Guess where we're headed for our first anniversary? ;) We leave a week from tomorrow!

Also, what's POG? We're having a condo too, so Costco is on our planned list of stops! :)
