Reception Venue ideas

I am trying to find ideas of where to have our reception that will allow us to bring in our own alcohol.  I have been checking out Santa barbara and Camarillo but also want to consider LA and surrounding areas.  I am trying to find an indoor site (maybe hardwood floor) that doesn't have insanely high site fees.  I think 3500 would be my max. Any ideas? I'm feeling very overwhelmed  :(

I'm getting married in San Marcos (just North of San Diego) at the Twin Oaks House and Gardens.  I don't know if they do just a reception or not (we're having the ceremony there also), but we get to bring our own alcohol and they provide the bartender.  The reception site is under a permanent tent that has a hardwood floor for dancing also.  Best of luck finding a place!

some great venues that I know of in LA are
    The Victorian (Santa Monica)
    The Sunset Restaurant (Malibu)
Inn of the Seventh Ray (Topanga Canyon)
    The Warehouse (Marina Del Rey)

good luck! Those are some of my def faves :)

I don't know the price, but think the Smoke Shoppe is cool.
Have you checked out Here Comes the Guide online?

Yes, I have been on Here Comes the Guide a ton.  I have been to about 5 pr 6 venues now and definately found some possibilities. Just trying to get some quotes from caterers now to see how much of a site fee is workable.  Can't find any pictures of the tent or the dance floor at Twin Oaks and Gardens, it looks pretty though.   So did your package go down since you are providing your own bar? Looks like 88/pp is the starting oint but includes a lot.
