Where should we rent the tux from?

I need to find a place that is more cost effective.  FI and I went to Mens wearhouse and I let him handle the whole thing.  He picked out the most expensive one!  It will cost the guys and our dads $170.  Ouch!  Any recs for a place thats more cost effective.  Hmmm, maybe I should just go pick out a cheaper tux at Mens Wearhouse!  Now there's an idea!  What do you ladies think?

My husband originally picked out the most expensive one at friar tux (150 I think)...but we discussed, and I convinced him the same tux with 1 button instead of two was just ast nice.   89.00 for the full set, tux, vest, tie, shoes, and shirt.  They were very nice :)

I hear the prices are more reasonable at Friar Tux Shop. My dad used them for his wedding and they didn't have any problems with customer service or quality. It's worth a look!

One thing I did is when I went to the Bridal Expo is took advantage of their "promotional rate" thing they have tux rental place.  I preregistered my wedding party for a $10 fee with Friar Tux.  The way the deal worked is that each of our grooms men would get $20 off their tux rental and with 4 tux rentals (our dads and groomsmen) the groom's tux was free.  After selecting the styles for the guys, theirs is going to be $89 and FFIL's tux will be $109 because he went with a slightly different style than the guys.

I would call Friar Tux and see if they still offer that deal.

FI and I are having a very very very bad experience with Mens Wearhouse.  Our wedding is this weekend and they're still screwing us.  I wouldn't recommend them with a ten foot pole.  My first order of business once I'm married is to file a strongly worded letter with their corporate office about how I will make sure every bride that ever asks me knows that I would never do business with them again.

    So there!

I know this may not be what you are looking for, but just to throw another option out there:

Our guys bought suits from overstock.com- they are Joseph Abboud, for only $150 each. I know that is on the high end of a rental, but there are tons of suits on there for much cheaper- even under $100. And then the guys have a suit to keep, rather than just returning their tux!

We got great feedback from our guys. We of course asked them if they were up for it, first, and they were all excited about buying a suit, and not just throwing away the rental money. They will wear their own black dress shoes, and we'll provide the shirts and ties.

Just another option, for people to consider!

I would also recomend Friar Tux, they have great customer service.  Also their wharehouse is local which is very helpful just in case there is a mistake they can correct it that day or at least by the next morning.  FI once ordered a suit for a friends wedding and thought he wanted a long coat well it turned out that it looked horrible on him. We took it back that same afternoon and they let him get a different style coat at no charge to us and he had it the next morning.  GL!

We are also going with Friar Tux.  We went to MW but Fi didn't really like any of their styles too much plus he couldn't actually try anything on which he didn't like.  At Friar Tux they allow the groom to pick out a few styles and they schedule a try on appointment for them.  FI loved this and it was a really good way to help he decide what he wanted to wear and what he wanted for the GMs.  The prices seemed about the same to me with tuxes in the range of $100-150.
