Recs for Catalina (NWR)

FI and I are heading to Catalina for a quick getaway soon. I haven't been there in over a decade and FI hasn't been there in even longer.

Anybody have some good recs for restaurants (both casual lunches and fine dining for dinners) and things to do/see there?

We'll be staying at the Hotel Metropole if that helps.

TIA!

  • I highly recommend Mi Casita if you're looking for good Mexican food.  Delicious!  Also, Cafe Metropole is really, really good and pretyt healthy.  Super cute atmosphere as well.  Have fun on the island!

  • We rented bikes and rode up to the botanical gardens when we went last spring. We also bought tickets for a tour of the Casino, which I really liked. Then we rode the bikes back through town and stopped for drinks and apps at a few places, though I can't really remember what they were.

  • Catalina is beautiful and there are a ton of great places! You should know before you go, though (we didn't!) that the island pretty much shuts down by 10 pm lol. We tried getting in for drinks at a restaurant at 9:30 and they wouldn't serve us because they were closing. We ended up at a karaoke bar instead!
