LA county - license and civil marriage same day?

hi all -

I've read over the LA county information page but was a little unsure about if it was possible to get your marriage license and have a civil ceremony at the courthouse on the same day. How long did it take you to get your license? Has anyone on the board ever done this same day?

a little background - FI and I are getting married in a different state and really can't be there early enough to meet the 3 day waiting period required. We're looking at having the civil earlier to save us from going crazy last-minute.

I didn't do it, but yes, you can.  There is no wait period.  You just have to go into an office that issues them same day.  We went when the Van Nuys office opened and, including our wait time, I think it took 1.5 hours to get the license.  We were out of there way before 10 a.m., so that gives you plenty of time to get to the courthouse.  )
