Florist Pricing Averages - What did you spend?

I'm trying to work out my budget and figure out how much I should be spending on each aspect of my wedding.  In order to know what I have to work with as far as DJ, Photographer, etc. I need to know what the average florist pricing is.  Since they don't list pricing on their websites (which I understand since it varies so much), its hard to guage what the average pricing is.  What did everyone spend so that I can get an idea?

I posted this on the LA board because I'm sure different parts of the country are all very different.

My wedding was in Florida so I'm sure the prices were less than here but I recommend that when you do go visit florists you have an idea of what you want.  

I budgeted about $1200 for everything (4 BM bouquets, my bouquet, 6 bouts, 3 corsages, 10 centerpieces, gazebo decorations, 1 cocktail hour arrangement, 2 small bar arrangements, 2 large buffet arrangements, 1 toss bouquet) including the vases I rented from the florist.  I told her that I could not go above that price and told her I didn't care about the flowers she used as long as she gave me a "soft" look (fluffy feel, light colors).  She then asked me to fill out a survey with all of my favorite and dream flowers.  I didn't think, with my budget, that she would be able to get all the flowers I wanted in there but she did.  But remember I was in FL.

I loved our flowers! We don't remember how much exactly I spent but it was in between $1400-1600. That included My beautiful Bouquet, 6 bm's bouquets, 10 bouts, 3 corsages, 2 ceremony arrangements, escort card table petals, Cake table petals and flowers for cake, Sweetheart table arrangement, 14 Centerpieces (7 tall and 7 short). Delivery and Set up amd a Mock up included. I think that's it...not sure if theres more. But I hope this helped a bit. GL

I've been getting quotes around $500. That's only for my bouquet, 2 BM, 8 bouts, 2 corsages, 2 altar peieces, toss and Virgin Mary bouquets plus 2 single long stem roses my FI wants to hand to our mothers during the ceremony.

I started off my planning saying that I was going to spend no more than $2000 for my 80 person wedding. And, I actually came in under budget at about $1600.

That included two large floral arrangements and rose petals for the ceremony, 6 bouts, 4 corsages, 3 bridesmaids bouquets, my flowers, decoration for the reception(amazing mantle arrangement for the fireplace, cake table, etc.), and 8 centerpieces. I think that was everything.

I got:

- 2 BM bouquets
- my bouquet
- 8 bouts
- 5 corsages
- flower petals for cake table and dinner tables

I used mostly roses and calla lillies, along with orchids, coffee berries and fiddlehead ferns. With tax and delivery (from OC to Toluca Lake) it was around $700. She would have done 10 low CPs (roses in bowls) for $30/each, too, but I did non-floral CPs.

I recently read an article that said you should budget 10% of your budget for everything. For example: If your budget is $10,000 than you can afford $1000 flowers. Easier said than done, but its a good starting point.

just my 2 cents - it's tricky to compare florists if you aren't matching the product as well.

Focus on flowers that aren't pricey and you'll get more bang for your buck. Another cost cutter is to have someone you trust pick up the flowers and deliver them to avoid a delivery charge. If displays are really large, let the pros do the transportation.

My florist is Carols secret garden in Claremont Ca. Our flowers came out to a total of 3k. This includes my bouquet, 4 bm boquets, 15 boutineers, 4 pins, 15 centerpieces 1/2 tall and 1/2 short, two smaller boquets for our moms, 3 large gazeebo arangments, cake flowers, table petals, and our flower girls basket with petals.
