Big Island Hawaii Help Please

Hey Ladies!  It has been nearly two years since I have been on here, but I know how helpful you all can be.  I am planning a trip to the Big Island, but I have no idea which part of the island to stay on.  Where would you stay and why? Any specific hotel recs?  Activities?  thanks!

    Check out the Hawaii Revealed books - they have them for a few of the islands.  If you check out wizardpub.com they have reviews of the hotels too.

    You can also check out the honeymoon board.  The MOD over there lives in Hawaii (though I'm not sure which island).  She's very helpful when it comes to Hawaii.

    Hi,

    I went to the Big Island last year and it was great.  We rented a car and drove everywhere, took a tour to the volcano.  I stayed at Mauna Lani resort and it was amazing!

    We went to the big island a few months ago and it wasAWESOME!     we were on the dry side of the island--so it is very desert like.  Most of the high end resorts are in the same area.  People like the dry side of the island to work on their tans and there is never rain to "ruin" your day.

    Hilo-is a cool city on the other side of the island.  It took about three hours to get here from our hotel.  It is on the rainy side of the island, which I actually prefer because I don't tan.  It was beautiful, wet, and green.

    PLEASE VISIT----the volcano for sure!  Also visit the orchid farm on the way to the volcano!!!!
