Ceremony Music?

Anyone have any recommendations for ceremony musicians?  I'm having trouble finding a group to do it for under $1,000!  I was thinking some sort of strings thing...violin, guitar, that sort of stuff.

I booked a great musician for the ceremony and cocktail hour for $500! We're just having the guitarist because we're having a small intimate wedding. But he also works with other musicians and is willing to work with most budgets.

    We used Larry Duff:

We had a trio with 2 violins and a guitar. Then Larry also played piano at our cockail hour. We found that quartets were a bit out of our price range, but trios were fine.

Try http://www.jasonsulkin.com for guitar-violin duo, guitar-flute duo, string trio (guitar-violin-cello) and quartet (guitar-violin-viola-cello) . Great talent at affordable prices. We had the string trio for 1 hour at  our ceremony for $650. They were amazing.  He's out of Los Angeles but I'm sure he goes everywhere. You can listen to music samples on his website.  Good luck!

We are planning to hire student musicians, and apparently almost all music schools provide info for you to contact students. USC has a good music school, and here is the link for more info: http://www.usc.edu/schools/music/contact/hire/

Have you consider a harpist for your ceremony?  We are having one at our wedding.  We have seen her played and the harp instrument really adds a great touch of elegance:

check out her site....tell her Jessica referred ya.  Charissa charged us $250/hr...and she will arrive like an hour early to setup and tune her harp (not counted twds her hourly rate).  IMO, I think this is gonna be something different from the violin, string quartet....

I play in a group that does duos and trios and we charge much less than that.  I'm a bride too, so as not to get booted for being a vendor I wont post our website, but PM me if you'd like more info.
