Advice: groom's cake?!

Hey Ladies!
I'm kinda stuck :/ . My FH says he doesn't care if there's a groomcake or not- he's happy either way. So I was thinking I was going to have one made for him as a surprise anyways.
I was wondering what your thoughts were. Like did you have one or no? If you did, was it a success? If I do have one, should it be themed?

Something tells me I've been watching too much cakeboss...help!

cakeboss, LOL!  Who knew you could have a show focusing on cakes.
As for the grooms cake, I know that some ladies surprise their FI with a groomscake at the rehearsal dinner...so that could be an option.  As for the theme, maybe you can have them make a cake designed to fit his favorite sports team(s), or any other hobby.

I'd never even heard of a groom's cake until The Knot. If he doesn't care for it, why spend the money?

Agreed.  I would spend the money elsewhere, or even better, save it!

We had one but it wasn't anything fancy like on cake boss - it was of his fraternity seal.  He loved it and so did his fraternity.

In fact, my sorority sisters were impressed too.

Didnt have one & didnt seem the point of having one. I bet he does not even know about "grooms cake".
I do think that IF you do have one, Rehearsal Dinner would be the perfect place to have one =D

I think I'm definitely going to do a groomscake at the rehersal dinner with both my sorority and his fraternity seal. I think it'll be a surprise for everyone!

I would save your money as well.  I don't think I've even seen one at a wedding.
