Have you looked at the Long Beach acquarium?  There's also a beautiful museum in Long beach called Molaa (Museum of Latin American Art) that has some smaller rooms that are probably VERY affordable.  Parking lot too.

This really depends on your style. I have lots of ideas for you and am in a similar situation. What is your style? Location? Are you thinking city park? Someone's backyard? Community center? 5k is doable and don't let anyone tell you it's not.

I'm looking for the same thing!  Preferably a pretty outdoor venue able to accomodate 100 or so guests for ceremony and reception.  Style to have the little white lights, paper lantern, and candle feel.   Having a hard time finding anything.

Might want to check out the Cal State Fullerton Alumni House. They have a room and also an outdoor patio/veranda area. And they've got great lights already strung. The lights were my favorite part! lol

HI. Before I started event and wedding planning I was a location scout. Please send me location requirements and guest number and I will find you a spot by end of week Saturday.

Pictures, cost and add ons also... :)

    Hope this helps a bit.

Not for under 5k, but I know Electra cruises in Newport Beach for 70 people wedding and reception for around 7k! Good luck.

I am photographing a wedding in May here - http://www.huronsubstation.com/Welcome.html

I am not sure of exact pricing but think it is affordable...and gorgeous!

Let me know if you are also looking for a photographer.
    Cheers,

I recently met with the women from the Laguna Beach Women's Club - they are fantastic and the venue is really charming.

Is your total budget 5k or is your reception location 5k - I haven't had coffee yet this morning so send me a p.m. and I'll email you my excel spreadsheet - i've made lots of phone calls/emails in the last month.

Not sure if this post is too late, but Occidental College in Eagle Rock has an outdoor venue and I remember the prices being very affordable.

Have you checked out Fantasea Yachts? Fantasea.com I think, but you may want to google it.
