How to invite officiant to rehearsal dinner?

Can I do this via email (has been primary contact w/them)?  Phone?  We are not sending out formal invites to anybody for the rehearsal dinner.

    We sent out officiant a formal invite to the wedding and the rehearsal like the other guests! She actually called and was very appreciative of it and said no other wedding she's done did that.. But I want her to feel included every step of the way.. ultimately she is one of the most important guests!
